SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - A 33-year-old man is suffering life-threatening injuries after he was shot 16 times early Saturday morning, a spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department said.

Police responded to the 300 block of Ellis Street at around 3:15 a.m. and found that the victim was wearing a bulletproof vest, officer Samson Chan said.

But the victim was shot at least once in the face, and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Chan said.

Your comment about GI got me to go to their web site. It looks like Mr. Zimmerman has done some real nice work.

Hadn’t heard of that caliber before. Looks like it’s .45 ACP turned up to 11.

Actually, level 4 plates stop 44 magnum.

Well 11.3mm is .45 I think it would be closer to 11.8 at least an 12mm at best.... I have 3 sets of dies for it an .498 is my cast lead fodder...

Some of the hot loads for it were cracking their 1911 frames early on yet my Glock 21 I put their slide assembly on has close to 3k of factory an my reloads through it an no signs of stress yet.... Recoil is mild an it is my carry rig now....

Heh! While I can see why you might have thought I was thinking mm, my reference to "11" was actually a pop culture / movie reference.

And I'm unsurprised the Glock big frame took it, no sweat. After all, I believe it is the same one as on their 10mm, and that's a pretty meaty, hi-recoil round.

LOL....ok my bad in not seeing the movie 11 then....:o)

The glock 20 or 21 can be used with the GI slide. I used my 21 flavor as I had a number of 1911’s an SIG’s in 45. My Glock 20 is what I take wheeling an hunting with me in the mountains etc...m

10mm is so close to 41 Magnum I prefer to pack in when I get out in CO/NM mountains. I am a big fan of the 10mm.

Hope yer well an I will find the movie.. :o)

Life is better than I deserve! Hope you’re well as well.

I am a little bit intrigued with this round, but figure it’s not something I need to get involved with until I take up reloading, which I haven’t managed to do.

They have made me a fan. Old tale of why do you carry a 45 ?...because they don’t make a 50 is broken in my home.

I have a 500 linebaugh yet that is not a rig to plunk with at my age.....or even were I still 10FT tall an Bulletproof !

50GI is a good round for me thus far.

Actually, level 4 plates stop 44 magnum.

That is why the firearm on the nightstand is .50AE.
Ears would bleed just as much from firing that indoors as a 12ga.

Curious if anyone ever fired that indoors without any hearing protection, and if so, what the results were.

For a few years, I used to fire it in an indoor range. It was kind of cool because the muzzle blast was so powerful that the ceiling tiles would come apart and the shooter would be rewarded with a little "snow" shower with each shot. The concussion is so strong that the shooter feels a bit of a shove against the chest. The sound is more of a "ka-boom" thud rather than a sharp "crack". Because the weapon is so heavy and gas operated, the recoil isn't an issue except when trying to do double-taps.

I used the .50 when qualifying for the CHL. They moved me down at the end away from everybody.
