Seven years to come here broke and live off the taxpayer.

I’d say 90% cannot read or write English after those years but took advantage of every other freebe that comes after the 675.00 a month.

Dang. Any chance I could get $674 a month? Seriously.

What if I claimed I was a refugee? Or gay? Or just depressed? I’ll do it, just tell me what to say.

Only seven years to get on their feet? Truly a horrible, racist country. I’m sure that when word of this gets out the Mexicans will stop wanting to come here. Or, maybe...just maybe, if they’d been cut off six and a half years ago, they’d be doing OK and not expecting a check from Uncle Sucker every month.

Why are we giving social security benefits to people who are foreigners and who’ve never worked a day in the US? And why hasn’t the media exposed this with classic muckraking?

Walk up to an immigration enforcement agent, claim to be an illegal immigrant from Tahiti, and demand to be deported. Who needs money when you're soaking up the sun in the South Pacific?

“As a senator, President Obama was co-sponsor of a bill extending refugees’ eligibility for cash assistance, and as a presidential candidate he emphasized his support for it.”

If they do, and there's a stink, there will be extensions. Mark my words.

When our grandparents came, there was no welfare, no government support, no medicare ..NOTHING.. you either made it or you went home.

It is interesting to note more went home than stayed..
So what we had were the hard working, creative and dedicated ..the ones that were not did not make it.

That is the stock of IMMIGRANTS that built America..

So today we get losers and hanger ons that look to the government to keep them..want to guess what the future looks like with that crop of immigrants?

My question was why the media has not exposed the fact that these benefits were being paid in the first place. Of course, I know they answer...

Mr. Hinkle, the spokesman for Social Security, said that refugees receiving cash assistance might qualify for an additional year of benefits if they could show that they had filed applications for citizenship with the Department of Homeland Security.

another hysterical non-story - must be a slow news day.

That is only the outright cash money.

They also get Gov housing, food stamps, free Medical, and a whole variety of discounts and programs that we know nothing about.

It is a mystery how every house in every poor neighborhood has chain smokers and satellite dishes.

There are huge numbers of parents of naturalized citizens that are brought over, collect the $674, the food stamps, use the medicaid and or the nursing homes...draining the ss system. I wish I knew the actual numbers, but it is huge.

That’s per identity. Five identities and you make $5,055 a month.
