The man looks like a President even in a wedding photo. What a great actor, oh, wait a minute, it wasn't an act.

Straight, proud, eyes fixed on a distant purpose, ready to step out energetically. Where, oh where, have we gone wrong?

His parents are fabulously normal. They were neighbors of ours when he was dating and married Amy. Very nice, very down to earth republicans. She said that her mother was probably rolling in her grave that Jim (the son) was marrying into this democrat family.

This thread is thee best!

That poor damn Amy. Not really. That whole Carter family was an embarrASSment and remians a national disgrace.

It’s amazing how emotional men were back then.

Interesting that Jenna Bush’s wedding was so low-key, and unpretentious, and her father was the SITTING President, not a former one.

Hiya SuziQ!Excellent point.

Class will out, every time. Never fails.

Both of the Nixon girls had classy weddings IMO. And President Nixon looked happy too.

I think Tricia’s wedding in the Rose Garden was elegant and beautiful and from what I have read, exactly what she
wanted.

Wow, old George was a handsome young man. I don’t care for Barbara’s dress, but I like her veil.

Those government-issue curtains and venetian blinds ... images of my Navy childhood.

I believe she said the her father, Teddy, “wanted to be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral”.

Wasn't she also the one who said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me"? They even named a color after her, "Alice Blue." Which led to a popular song, "My Sweet Little Alice Blue Gown."
