After hearing all the news today about the protests and riots in downtown Phoenix, I'm thinking of sending a thank you gift to the Phoenix police department for their hard work. Driving around town on errands, I saw tons of police vehicles. I doubt many officers had the day off.
I'm thinking of one of those Edible Arrangements, www.ediblearrangements.com. Would they be allowed to accept the gift and then eat the fruit arrangement? Is this a totaly crazy idea? I would just like to show our appreciation and support in a meaningful way.
Well, the Irish side of me thinks it would be fitting if the fruit was picked by illegals.....
But seriously, how far would an arrangement go? How about those gift tins of popcorn? They are real popular at my work and they seem to last so everyone gets a little. (Carmel popcorn for me.)
You should call their public affairs office and ask. Also, they might think they were being poisoned if someone just delivered them some random fruit. Maybe a nice letter to the chief, and ask him to share it.
Great idea.....
I would think it would be acceptable if it were delivered by the official Edible Arrangements delivery truck/person.
Just make a note that David Salgado doesn’t get any popcorn or fruit. He’s the Phoenix police officer who filed a lawsuit against SB 1070 because he opposed it’s implementation. Phooey with him.
Time to get in touch with David Spade. He personally bought a number of long rifles for the department a few years ago. He may want to partake in another “donation” to which I would happily contribute.
Edibles are sensitive but I like those over-priced but good Harry and David baskets or towers. You can get a variety of stuff in those such a beautiful apples and pears, cheese for the Atkins types, and chocolates or pound cake for us fat pill lovers.
Donate 100% of all profits to assiting the wounded/deceased officers and their families. Maybe present a plaque to the police department for their service and sacrafices.
It would be a lot of work, but I'm sure a lot of local community businesses/groups would like to help. The police would see the community turn out in appreciation.
Just an idea.....
It would be great to show them we have faith in their judgement and know they would execute the law faithfully.
I love the H&D pears.
May I suggest, esp given the recent loss of an officer in Feenix, that you consider getting some of your friends off their collective cabbooses and start writing letters to the editor, call to local radio shows etc?
Might be better recieved than food...
Dunno - your call.
Would you eat anything that might have been sent by the foreign criminals or their supporters?
The reason I thought of this is because flowers or a plant just aren’t that special. Incredible Edibles is a national company that most people have heard of, and their fruit arrangements are amazing. Delivered by an official employee of the company, I’m not sure it would be immediately rejected as, say, a plate of homemade brownies brought in by a stranger. Haven’t decided what to do but wanted these men and women to know they were appreciated. They took a LOT of abuse today by the so-called peaceful protesters.
