PROVO The former BYU student accused of attacking a woman with a stun gun pleaded guilty Tuesday to a lessened degree of aggravated assault.
Stetson Geo Hallam, 20, had been charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, following an April 6 incident that he claimed was an April Fool's joke, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
Charges say Hallam, the victim's home teacher in their LDS Church ward, pressured the 19-year-old woman to meet him so he could "give her a gift."
The woman told police Hallam waited outside her Provo apartment for her to return, then asked her to go to a basement laundry room as part of a scavenger hunt.
Once in the room, Hallam attacked her with a Taser-like weapon, pinned her to the ground and tried to handcuff her, the affidavit states. Despite the electric shock, the woman began screaming and fighting back, and at one point bit Hallam's finger, according to court documents. She later told police she thought Hallam was trying to rape her.
After being bitten, Hallam released the woman, apologized, and said it was just an April Fool's joke, the affidavit states. Police found burn marks on the woman's arm from the weapon and a bite mark on Hallam's hand.
Hallam pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and obstruction of justice, second-degree felonies. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 9 and faces up to 15 years in prison.

Did they physically harm you? If so, you need to call the cops.
Exactly, you made Mormon big and ism small. You are the group talking about the faults of individual Mormons, not their beliefs. You are a group that is focused on Mormons.
No, I dont like this group smearing a religion by using the failings of its practitioners, then running away from their own argument, then turning everything that happens in Utah news into a Mormons are eeeevil story, then using the Religion Moderator to protect them from attacks, then saying that my argument is against their freedom of speech.
In a nutshell, I dont like cowards and I dont like people who twist logic.
Look at me, Im Colofornian. I can copy and paste and write really long responses without actually addressing anything anyone said. I can also make it ok to bad mouth one religion while at the same time make it verboten to bad mouth another, I must be related to Jesus or something :)
They have done great harm to my family, that is why I am here.
Seriously. Are you trying and failing to make a joke?
I think the A&M Aggies are a cult, but I definitely dont think they are a religion.
I think Manchester soccer fans are a cult, but they are definitely not a religion.
Definitions of cult on the Web:
2. panaxanax likes to use the word, CULT, a lot.
3. THERFORE, he(?) must consider us ANTI-MORMONism folks to be a RELIGION, though false. (3 outta 4...)
Sigh...
You are a group that is focused on MormonISM.
What part of...
Ex-BYU student pleads guilty ...
is SO hard to understand?
The 'religion' is SMEARED by it's own teachings. We don't need' ANY of it's practitioners to do anything!
Or cops who busts yer balls, either, it seems...
So in other words, it is all emotional and you brought it up to get an emotional response and sympathy.
It is kind of funny that your group is so afraid of confrontation they run to the Religion Moderator on a non Religion forum.
Nope, making an observation. Some guy in Utah a long time ago, some radio station cutting Sean, some ex-BYU student. All threads about people. Then you try and claim you want to talk about the religion. The evidence for your argument is lacking.
You fail. 1st, panaxanax never attacked your religion (Wesleyan, I believe). So, you fail there. Maybe he considers you to be a cult in the 5th definition of Webster - great devotion to a person, idea, movement, or work. Maybe he believes you a cult of people devoted to an anti-Mormon movement. Your failure is in trying to know what his definition of cult is without asking him.
So yes, your logical jump fails.
Also, from Webster (not “Web definitions”), cult comes from the Latin cultus meaning care or adoration.
Not sure what you mean by that. But yeah, if a cop punched me in the nether regions, I dont think I would like him very much.
Your homepage.
Seems you have a bit of animus towards some of them in a certain location...
I don't believe that HE or YOU have asked ME for MY definition of it.
HE used CULT THREE times refering to us; so let's find OUT!
Hey Panaxanax; just WHAT did you mean by using CULT?
Your defender is guessing*, so we REALLY need some clarification here!
*Maybe he believes you a cult of people devoted to an anti-Mormon movement.
You’re having fun again, aren’t you...
;-)
