There's a slight difference in meaning between the two...I'd go with the latter.
Where to now, St. Peter?
Elton is very smart as a performer! Why pee off virtually 1/2 or more of your audience. He was just banned from performing in Egypt so he cannot be a fan of those who boycott based on political views.
None whatsoever? lol...sure Elton.
Huh? Since when do, gay men," have no legal rights whatsoever?
although I am sure Sir Elton and I disagree on many things, politically, I do admire his speaking his mind in the face of what obviously is an obtuse opinion to his entertainment industry peers.
You have the right to remain silent. Not that you would ever consider using it.
He’s a talented musician who has gone into the depths of PC leftist thought, participated, and sounds as if he’s emerging from the other side. I don’t agree at all with the life he lives, but it’s not my life to live.
It’s refreshing to hear occasional bouts of sanity from such people, much like Camille Paglia. Maybe the two of them should spend some time together. She’s been manning the barricades for sanity in academia, alone and occasionally savaged, for quite some time, and is also a very keen observer of pop culture.
Rush, make the introduction, lol.
God Save The Queen, and Elizabeth too!
Elton isn’t an idiotic lefty fundamentalist.
He will continue to push for equality of gays but, the rest he gets.
I am seriously wanting to go see an Elton John show about now!! Bravo, Elton!
He doesn’t buy into PC. I can respect that.
Good for him. I hope it is real. Reason and intellectual honesty are hard sometimes. So much of what is accepted by the modern world as truth is not so and it is not easy to balk it especially when one is in the public space and is being constantly rewarded for believing what is not true. I’ll not read too much into this.
I love his music. A while ago, right after I decided I didn’t care what Elton John thinks, I was going to like him anyway for the happiness his music gives me, then he goes and starts to agree with me.
I am straight, but I love this guy!
Heh, I’m glad I can listen to Elton guilt free. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
"I used to be a rolling stone,There's no doubt that Reggie is intelligent, rich, persistent, industrious and maybe (just maybe), he gets it.
You know if the cause was right
I'd leave to find the answer on the road.
I used to be a heart beating (bleeding?) for someone
But the times have changed,
The less I say the more my work gets done.
"`Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom,
From the day that I was born I've waved the flag.
Philadelphia freedom took me knee-high to a man,
Gave me peace of mind my daddy never had."

I mean, it's nice to see him toss some nice platitudes every now and then, but I wonder what's behind it?
Could it be possible that Elton is applying logic and common sense in re-evaluating his political beliefs?
“...Lets face it: I still play in California, and as a gay man I have no legal rights whatsoever....”
He’s still a Brit. That means he’s not an American. That means that he should have all of the rights that an illegal alien has.
He’s one of the few in the industry who seems to be getting smarter the longer he’s there, unlike most entertainers.
