Elton John: Artists Who Boycott Arizona Are ‘(Expletive) Twits’
Big Hollywood.com ^ | July 6, 2010 | John Nolte

Opposes same-sex marriage, plays Rush Limbaugh’s wedding, refuses to boycott Israel, and now this. Does Elton John’s free-thinking apostasy know no bounds?
Today’s Arizona Daily Star:
Elton John didn’t mince words in slamming his fellow musicians for boycotting Arizona over the controversial SB 1070 immigration law. From the stage at his sold-out Tucson Arena concert Thursday night, John savored a few choice, not-so-family-friendly words:“We are all very pleased to be playing in Arizona. I have read that some of the artists won’t come here. They are (expletive)wits! Let’s face it: I still play in California, and as a gay man I have no legal rights whatsoever. So what’s the (expletive) with these people?”

Elton John continues to violate the PC positions of the left wing elites. It started before Rush Limbaugh's wedding too!

Which is it? "(expletive) twits" or "(expletive)wits"?

There's a slight difference in meaning between the two...I'd go with the latter.

Elton is very smart as a performer! Why pee off virtually 1/2 or more of your audience. He was just banned from performing in Egypt so he cannot be a fan of those who boycott based on political views.

Didn’t say he was sharp, just non-PC.

although I am sure Sir Elton and I disagree on many things, politically, I do admire his speaking his mind in the face of what obviously is an obtuse opinion to his entertainment industry peers.

You have the right to remain silent. Not that you would ever consider using it.

I think you better rephrase that. The most certainly do have rights, maybe not the rights you are thinking of but with the exception of marriage they have the same rights and you and I.

He’s a talented musician who has gone into the depths of PC leftist thought, participated, and sounds as if he’s emerging from the other side. I don’t agree at all with the life he lives, but it’s not my life to live.

It’s refreshing to hear occasional bouts of sanity from such people, much like Camille Paglia. Maybe the two of them should spend some time together. She’s been manning the barricades for sanity in academia, alone and occasionally savaged, for quite some time, and is also a very keen observer of pop culture.

Rush, make the introduction, lol.

‘with the exception of marriage they have the same rights and you and I.’

Actually they have precisely the same rights to marriage as you and I. I have the right to marry someone of the opposite gender, and so do they. You might say that they would get less pleasure from such a marriage. Pleasure is a right for nobody.

I am a straight man, but I don't have a, "right to get married," in California.

If I want to get married, can I go to San Francisco and demand that they provide me a spouse?

Elton isn’t an idiotic lefty fundamentalist.

He will continue to push for equality of gays but, the rest he gets.

I love to read Camille’s acerbic writing. She is very intelligent and engaging.

I’ve admired her writing and her intellect for many years. How she remains a Democrat is a puzzle, but a Democrat she is. We all have our blind spots, I guess.
