Because it was named after the slough, which is a ditch that was used for controlling floods, although it didn’t work very well, used to flood that part of the hwy out every year until they took steps and put in different type of flood control, even so, in bad years it still floods. Anyhow, that type of ditch is called a slough and not spelled slew.:) Great corn at any rate!

I agree. Just had some Brentwood, CA corn from the local farmer’s market with dinner. Didn’t need butter, salt, nuffin!

I dropped in to my favourite farm two days ago, and they said it’s going to be another two weeks or so.

I too am Jonesing for some fresh corn. I like to have the pot boiling before I pick it! That way NONE of the sugar converts to starch .

measure the velocity through the body of the other stuff you eat with it.

Bowel transit time.

When I was a kid on the farm, my father would sell our sweet corn for .75 cents a dozen. Every morning we would pick the day’s orders and sack it in burlap sacks. One year I recall that we picked @ 800 dozen... All on one acre that we secretly planted amongst our field corn to keep the two legged coons from pilfering it!

Ten cents an ear last week, and not too tasty, but it was the last of the southern corn. Three for a dollar this week, bicolour and local. It was heaven in a husk....

In SW AR we had a cold dry winter. A dry spring. Now a dry summer. The corn is MIA.
