Can Sellers be credited with the comedic trick of playing multiple roles in the same movie (black comedy: “Dr. Strangelove, not-so-black comedy: “The Mouse that Roared”?
The same trick as used by Eddie Murphy and Tyler Perry, to name a few?
Alec Guinness did it in “Kind Hearts and Coronets,” so I think he wins.
And Jerry Lewis before them?
Sellers was going to play the Slim Pickens role, as well, but hurt himself on the set.
One of my fav movies that I have seen on TV about 10 times is called the “7 Faces of Dr. Lao,” in which Tony Randall plays Dr. Lao / Merlin / Pan / Abominable Snowman / Medusa / the Giant Serpent. It was made in 1963.
He was good at that.
Liked him in Lolita. (he played only 1 character but that character pretended to be other people)
