“Push came to shove years ago”

I’m afraid you’re right.

It kidn of like quitting smoking. Like most smokers, I remember sayin “I’ll quit when they get to $3.00 / pack.”

Then $4.00, then 5.00, etc.

The same mechanism is in play. As long as they do it gradually, most people will tolerate it.

Things really have to get VERY bad in everyday life for people to resort to revolution.

...are you really going to enter into a gunfight with a SWAT team?

Nope, that would would be ineffective.

Should it come to this, I would think the more effective "fight" would be with the one(s) who sent the SWAT team.

"...as their empty bellies begin to growl. Then they will be ready to fight too. I am looking forward to a confrontation, if it comes to that."

I am NOT looking "forward to a confrontation". I am a simple ex-Sailor and don't want to see blood in the streets in our Country. However, if it comes to saving our Republic and our liberties, I will be "cannon fodder", if it forwards the cause of Constitutional Restoration. I swear on my most sacred Honor. Use me, forget me, move forward. I will run point...wanna live forever? Ha!

Fighting is easier when there’s a definite front. We’re in an asymmetrical war. They’re planning to nibble away at us like a cancer, not confront us directly in face to face, hand to hand combat. When they come for us, one by one. in the middle of the night, how do you prepare for that? Or more to the point, how do we force them out of that game plan?

And then there’s the problem of family, a wife, and children who depend on you, who may not be as prepared for the dire consequences of a “hot” conflict as you are. Sacrifice on a foreign battlefield does not exact so high a price as knowingly putting your entire family at risk of utter ruin.

I am not saying we won’t get there. I’m just saying it’s worthwhile to hope it doesn’t go there. That’s why we’re all sitting pinned beneath that tiny group of men and women in DC. We’re hoping to resolve this through constitutional process. I hope it works, because I’m not looking forward to the alternative. But if it comes, duty before safety.

“We tend to believe the US military, as individual oath keepers, would not take up arms against “us”. “

Yup. I know many here belive that the military would never follow such orders, but I think they’re shitling past the graveyard.

It all depends how it’s presented to them. “Restoring order” perhaps?

They can always trump up some incidents of conservative violence (real or not).

None of you are going to do a damned thing, so please shut up about it.

So what do you think the purpose of this website is? Do you think it was established as a hand-holding room where we could all sit around impotently watching the demise of our once great country?

Do you think it's some sort of rubber room, where we can all bounce off the walls, exhausting our mental anxieties?

Or, perhaps it's a meeting place where we can all sagely comment on the destruction of our world, and the burning edifice of our beloved nation, simply marking time until the storm troopers arrive at our doors.

If Free Republic isn't a gathering place for determined patriots to meet and discuss ways to restore our nation, then most of us are in the wrong place. On the other hand, if it is, then perhaps you're in the wrong place.

I’ve read all that. I was once Chairman of Veterans for Constitutional Restoration (VetsCoR). While I have forgotten much of the Founding Fathers’ writings since then, I do remember much of their most important writings. Best.

I began learning how to shoot 2 months ago. I will buy as many guns, legally, as I can.

I have no children to worry about so dying in the cause of liberty is not a fearful thing for me. If my fight lets my nephews live in a more free country, then good. My life has had a purpose.

This works both ways, does it not?

And then there’s the problem of family, a wife, and children who depend on you..

That, too, works both ways, should push come to shove.

Gotta think out of the box. Be creative. Don't play by the other guy's rules or you will surely perish.

Just my little know nothing opinion:

I don’t believe the electoral process is defunct.Fraud has existed for thousands of years and will always be with us.The apathy that grew in this country (myself included) over the years seems to be abating. And I say that as I talk to folks down here that you’d think would never be interested in what is happening in this country are listening and discussing the issues.I think the “Ozzie and Harriet”syndrom (as I call it) is basically over. We’ll see in November.

As to how the Men you listed would deal with it.Seems they would allow the process to run its course.

But I’m just a country boy .

Bravado is one thing, sensible disobediance is another. Is there some plan out there to end this not-so-soft tyranny or are we just waiting for something to happen then just winging it?

No, there's a plan - try this one. Suppose we plan a million Tea Partier march on Washington? They've seen it before, so no big deal, right?? Only, this time, we use a quarter of those to take Control of Congress inside and another quarter to take control of the Congress outside to stifle all of the fed efforts to starve us out, or tear gas us out or whatever. IOW, it becomes the world's biggest sit-in.

What can zero and the feds do? There are a MILLION of us (and probably more coming everyday!)!! Open fire, a la Waco?? In full view of the world?? I don't think so. Send SWAT after us?? Again, there are 1 million of us!! So, we either take the entire Congress hostage (if they're in session when we start), or we keep them from getting inside the Capitol. Meanwhile, another 100,000 take control of the SCOTUS. That leaves us 400,000 to take the WH and take control of zero.

Is this dangerous? You bet your bippy. Will people get hurt or killed?? I wouldn't be surprised. BUT - 230+ years ago, a similar group of patriots thought that THEIR freedom and THEIR liberty from the tyranny of England was worth fighting and dying for. Today, history is repeating itself, only the tyranny comes from within our very own government. I have fought for other people's freedom and liberty and wasn't too thrilled about the prospect of dying for it. But, I'm more than willing to lose my life fighting and dying so that future generations of Americans can enjoy the freedom and liberty that has been the hallmark of this nation for over 2 centuries. We have been the beacon of freedom for the world during all that time and the hope of oppressed people all over the world.

If it is God's will that I die for this fight, it is a death I embrace with honor and pride. Because this is MY country, NOT Soros'; it is MY country, NOT Obama's; it is MY country, NOT those who want to destroy us for our proud and honorable past. So, let me be the kid blocking the tank in Tienanmen Square if that's what it means to end this nightmare.
