NY Daily News ^

They still may not be able to pronounce Louis Oosthuizen's name but now he can be referred to simply as British Open champion.

The 27-year-old South African, "Shrek" to his friends, ran away from the field at St. Andrews for a seven-shot victory over Lee Westwood, the most in an Open since Tiger Woods won by eight at St. Andrews 10 years ago.

Well Hot Tabasco is a Toger fan boy so he can watch the replays of steroid/HGH boy throwing clubs, swearing and spraying golf shots all over.

Tiger is the new Giambi/Maguire/Barry Bonds of golf. No juice = no birdies.

I think it's a little bit early to be writing Tiger off.

Tiger Woods will never win another major. He is finished as a top competitor, there are too many good young players now who aren’t intimidated by him. To continue to call him the #1 golfer in the world is a joke. What is that based on, reputation? If so, Jack Nicklaus should still be considered the number 1 golfer in the world.

I'd say that's a poor bet.

No, the PGA would never let that happen to their goose that lays the golden egg. They will continue to tailor golf courses and look the other way when it comes to drug testing.

Not a bet, just a prediction. If I was betting, I’d say he will announce his retirement from competitive golf within 2 years.

Yup. If the PGA looks the other way he can get back on the ROIDs/HGH and things are good.

Agre does appear to be catching up on Tiger though. I doubt he will be like Calcavecchia or Tom Lehman at 50.

He still is on the juice. I have a bigger problem with the PGA's effort to secure multiple victories for TiHgHer by what they use to call "Tiger proofing" the courses. "Tiger proofing" the course was simply adding hundreds of yard to each course and adding incredibly thick rough. This has been the style of tour events, particularly majors, for the last 10 years. It significantly reduced the chance of 90% of the field and gave our roided out PGA poster child an added advantage. The term "Tiger Proofing" was merely a red herring term. Tiger thrived on these courses as he had no problem with the distance and the thick rough; he can stop a 9 iron on the green from 180 yards. Now we have a new crop of players and TiHgHer is breaking down a bit.

I don't look at any PGA tour product the same way anymore.

Great post and right on the mark. The problem for him is he is not that long any more. Phil bombs it past him. Sean O’Hair, Watney, Rory and others now are longer. Rory is a smaller giy and their are no roids there.

Poor John Daly had it all except the mental part. He hit it a mile and had the touch.

I was reading on golfwrx.com which is still filled with Tiger fan boys but fewer than before. Some Phil fans too. There was a Phil thread a few weeks ago and they were saying how Phil hits his iron so far. 9 iorns 180 yards. His iron play at the Masters was stunning.

All kudos to Louis this weekend though. Poor Rory’s one day messed him up.
