We have one wedding on our calendar, in August. I don’t think there is any trend, but a whole social group kind of moves together, I think. There was a cluster of weddings in our social circles over the span of a couple of years when my husband and I got married. And then no more wedding invitations for a couple of years. Now, it’s about once every two years that a wedding invitation comes up.
Where abouts in the PNW do you live? I lived in Neah Bay when I was really young?
I have four weddings this summer. That’s the norm for a spring/summer for me.
No, but I wish more “committed” people would go ahead and get married! There is a very nice young couple across the road from us who just had their SECOND baby ... and no, they’re not married. Wish I knew them better, I’d smack ‘em upside the head and say, “Get married already!”
Also living in the Pacific NW. Been to two weddings this year, and both young brides were within a few weeks of their babies due date. Oh well, at least the groom did the right thing, and gave the child a Dad.
What is "PNWw"?
[...] One of our most effeciant fellow work persons [...]
What you are describing could be attributable to the so-called "observational effect." I don't know, but you (and, correspondingly, your friends, acquaintances, and "fellow work persons") could simply happen to belong to (or be entering into) a certain demographic cohort (say, 25 to 35-year olds) in which, naturally, people tend to get married.
By the same token, a 20-year-old might be dismayed at the fact that more and more of his friends and former classmates are "suddenly" leaving town.
An 80-year-old might complain about the "sudden" surge in deaths among his friends and fellow retirement community residents.
I doubt that this is a statistical anomaly.
Regards,
Wonderful news, indeed!
God love you for your proximity to it...and God love you for spreading the good news!
I love it!
I think there’s increased economic pressure to ‘live as cheaply as one’, and for those who would get married before doing so it makes sense that there’d be an uptick in nuptials.
It could because the USA is starting to come back to its center-right roots in these most difficult days.
I have seen this before, The divorce fad is next.
People do desparate things when they see the economy is about to collapse!
My band and I are playing at a wedding of a friend tomorrow night. Singing “Wedding Song”.
