Faith-Based Group Fires Back at Glenn Beck

One hundred thousand faithful Americans are telling Glenn Beck that enough is enough. This summer as Beck travels the United States solo and with Bill O'Reilly, Faithful America--a multi-faith justice organization--has rallied its members to push back against Beck's anti-Christian-social-justice message. When Beck makes stops in South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, and Washington D.C., the group's provocative new ad will follow his trail and challenge his words as “piecemeal gospel” on local Christian radio stations.....

I’m assuming you forgot the sarcasm tag for that comment.

If not, please read scripture, particularly the words of Jesus Himself.

You are absolutely right that he spoke to people as a group, particularly his pointed condemnation of those in authority who had twisted scripture for their own good. Matthew 23 is full of woes to the scribes and Pharisees.

But his gentle teaching and parables were aimed at individuals, sometimes in crowds, but touching willing hearts. He encouraged them to lives of faith and responsiblity toward their neighbors. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself.

Even when faced with death, Jesus refused to get involved in politics or government.

Read it if you haven’t already. If you have, read it again with fresh eyes.

These people are perverting scripture, and I want no part of them.

That “bunch of isolated individuals” you mention is also known as the church. It’s not a building (Acts 17:24) but a brotherhood of believers, to which “the Lord added daily those who would be saved.”

“It is written: ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘Every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’ So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.” Romans 12: 11-12

Each of us. Individuals. Not some collective speaking for me or for you.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that they took out an ad on Al Jezerra to apologize for Abu Graib? WTF?!?!? Anyone who buys this crap is dumber than a box of rocks & should study their faith a bit more closely.

Here ya go: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=7291

Priorities, Inc. is the parent organization of TrueMajority, and describes itself as "an unusual mix of citizens -- from former military brass and businesspeople to religious leaders and ordinary citizens -- who believe America can have a more humane government." Priorities, Inc. condemns the "wasting [of] billions of dollars on nuclear weapons, Star Wars, [and] other outmoded weapons, while … one out of every six of our own kids live in poverty and millions of children worldwide die each year from hunger-related illnesses." Through its persuasion of political leaders, the organization seeks to "increase America's investment in programs that benefit children (schools, health care, Head Start, etc.) by cutting Cold War weapons systems and shifting the savings." By Priorities' estimate, such a reallocation of resources would make an extra $60 billion available each year for social welfare spending.

Priorities, Inc. focuses its activities chiefly in the target markets of Iowa and New Hampshire, because of the large role those states play in American politics. The Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary have evolved into major indicators of political candidates' chances for success in securing the nomination of either the Republican or Democratic Party.

Priorities, Inc. is composed of three subdivisions:

Military Advisory Committee (MAC): Membership in this committee includes a dozen retired military leaders, among them Vice Admiral John J. Shanahan; former Assistant Secretary of Defense Lawrence Korb, and onetime CIA Director Stansfield Turner. The MAC formulates and defines Priorities, Inc.'s positions on military-related matters.

Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities (BLSP): This division of Priorities, Inc. is made up of 750 members, including the present or former CEOs of Bell Industries, Black Entertainment Television, Eastman Kodak, Goldman Sachs, Men's Warehouse, and Phillips Van Heusen, as well as notables like Paul Newman and Ted Turner. BLSP's stated mission is "to change U.S. budget priorities to reflect a national commitment to education, healthcare, energy independence, job training and deficit reduction -- at no additional taxpayer expense -- by eliminating funding for unneeded Cold War era weapons systems."

Faithful America: In partnership with the National Council of Churches, this "online activist network among people of faith who share our values … combines the e-organizing techniques pioneered by TrueMajority with the outreach capability of the Council's 40 denominations and thousands of religious institutions."

In March 2006, Priorities, Inc. lent its support to H.R. 4898, legislation intended "to reallocate funds toward sensible priorities such as improved children's education, increased children's access to health care, expanded job training, and increased energy efficiency and conservation through a reduction of wasteful defense spending, and for other purposes."This bill was sponsored by Representatives Lynn Woolsey, Barbara Lee, Raul Grijalva, Dennis Kucinich, Danny Davis, Jerrold Nadler, Jim McDermott, Major Owens, Jim McGovern, William Lacy Clay, John Conyers, Michael Honda, Sheila Jackson Lee, Pete Stark, and Jan Schakowsky, and Cynthia McKinney. All are members of the Progressive Caucus in the House of Representatives.

BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY DOES NOT TEACH A “SOCIAL JUSTICE!” Nor did the Lord proclaim a “Social Gospel!”

BECK is RIGHT.

“Faithful America” is neither Faithful the Christ NOR to America.

These people are perverting scripture, and I want no part of them.

No disagreement from me ... Jim Wallis and his cohorts poison the gospel with their socialist clap trap. True Christian faith knows nothing of looking to the state to accomplish its mission or goals.

All I was pointing out it that "me and Jesus" is a western rational perversion of the gospel as well. God has always been about a people ... made up of individuals yes - but to try to live Christian faith out outside of the context of community is missing the mark all together.

More likely Beck is.

He’s just not believable.

If you believe that, than you have NOT been paying attention to reality. Wake up!

I don't wager money.

None-the-less, faithful America states right on their own web page at http://www.faithfulamerica.org/about/ that "In August 2007 Faith in Public Life (FPL) became host of this vibrant online community."

At the FPL web site it states that "The plan took root after a May 2009 meeting Buffett and Gates set up for a small group of the super-rich, including Oprah Winfrey, Ted Turner, George Soros and L.A. philanthropist Eli Broad."

No, not all are corrupt. But many, many are. Malachi MArtin, in The Keys of This Blood Devotes an entire chapter to describing the successful corruption of much of the Catholic Church's by the Gramscian paradigm. The theme recurs throughout the book.

Which takes nothing away from the few islands and pockets of resistance. But it does liiustrate just how pervasive the problem is. Those uncorrupted islands are just barely holding their heads above the flood. Most people have no idea who Gramsci was and how how destructive his ideas and methods are.

Martin opens his book by stating that a great game is afoot - a struggle for no-compromise supremacy by three forces: The Catholic Church, Western secular humanists and Communists (as defined by Russia and the PRC). The stakes, he says, are us.

For my part I choose none of the above.

I know. As with Hitler, I think of all the misery and havoc that man has caused and how it could have been prevented by a timely application of a few grains of lead.

from the faithfulamerica site - “Faithful America was founded on June 15, 2004, when Americans of faith raised $36,000 to place an advertisement on Arabic-language satellite television expressing regret to Muslims for the abuse committed by Americans at Abu Ghraib prison.

The advertisement said:

A Salaam A’alaykum [”Peace be with you” in Arabic]. As Americans of faith, we express our deep sorrow at abuses committed in Iraqi prisons. We stand in solidarity with all those in Iraq and everywhere who demand justice and human dignity. We condemn the sinful and systemic abuses committed in our name, and pledge to work to right these wrongs.”

I wonder if they got any apologies for any/all of the Americans, civilian and soldiers, who have been murdered by Muslims?

I tuned into Glenn’s radio show just as they were playing that “ad”.

At first I thought it was a spoof ad made by Glenn and his radio guys. I was laughing right along with Glenn and the boys.

Good grief when the “attack ad” made by the lefties sounds just like a spoof of them, the lefties are in really sad shape.

And that’s a good thing.

Cheers!

You gotta be a bite carefull when it comes to Jesus and Caesar...When his people had to pay a tax, he sent them fishing and took a coin out of the first fishes mouth...not out of his purse...I don’t think He thought much of a tax on citizens..
