Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reveal exclusively in the new Us Weekly that they are getting married.
And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans ... until now.
"We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we dont have the approval of our parents."

Well said Cindie.
Dittos.
Best line of the day, btw.
Good on them, I hope that they can manage to have a long and happy marriage. The odds that a marriage will end in divorce are three times as high for people who marry under the age of 25 ans for those who enter marriage at age 30 or above.
Good luck to them.
That all may be true but why do we have to participate?
My advice for Bristol would be . . . make it a long engagement. At least eighteen months. And don’t live together, let him court you and prove to you that you’re more important to him than anything or anyone [including himself].
Take it slowly Bristol, learn from the past or you’ll be doomed to repeat it.
[I’m a 65 year old mother and grandmother, I know where of I speak.]
I just read this. Holy crap, Bristol’s nuts. Not telling her parents? Oh, Bristol, Bristol, Bristol. Sarah and Todd have endured a lot from you and your bad choices. I’m more than certain you’ll be sorry one day.
Well, I guess we don't have to participate in any conversation, right?
But, this particular story is about a daughter of a woman who may aspire to be President, and who has taken on her own very public identity herself. She a PAID national spokesperson for a national political-action group, she's an actress, and she's an advocate for abstinence who has made literally dozens and dozens of press appearances without her mother.
It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone - but especially anyone here - that people are going to talk about her personal life, especially when she makes it so public.
Bristol Palin has a job - and that job is being "Bristol Palin" - just like Paris Hilton's job is being "Paris Hilton".
Are these people all nuts?
Goodness, I hope he doesn't. He's already made himself look like a jerk in the national spotlight, he doesn't need to then turn around and pretend leadership qualities. If he's serious about this, he'll retreat from public scrutiny, avoid making media statement of any type, and focus on being a good father and husband.
That all may be true but why do we have to participate?
**********
No one has to participate. Don’t buy the magazines that publish the story, don’t read the articles online, don’t open threads on forums about them. Change the channel when their mugs show up on TV. And so on.
But don’t forget that they (Bristol and Levi) WANT you to participate. They made it everyone’s business on purpose.
Did either of you actually read my post?
Bristol is a reflection of her parents. We are all a product of our environment. To deny this fact would be foolish. I am fully aware that good parenting can result in less than ideal behavior from kids (and vice versa), which is why I said I will wait and see how the Palins handle Bristol’s decisions.
I’ll repeat myself: For this reason I have concerns about Sarah’s ability to lead our nation, yet I will wait and see how Todd & Sarah handle this over the months and years ahead.
My concern is based on guidance found in the bible [1 Timothy 3]:
Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach... HE MUST MANAGE HIS OWN FAMILY WELL AND SEE THAT HIS CHILDREN OBEY HIM WITH PROPER RESPECT. (IF ANYONE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO MANAGE HIS OWN FAMILY, HOW CAN HE TAKE CARE OF GOD’S CHURCH?)
This passage does not just apply to men, or to overseers, or to the church. It has to do with selecting good leadership.
To call my *concern but wait & see* stance the “stupidest ever” goes against good biblical instruction and defies sound logic, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you did not actually hear what I was saying.
No one has stated the obvious so far.
Bristol and Levi are probably being paid well for the interview in U$ magazine.
I agree....I made the poorest choice of my life at nineteen. These are lifelong decisions she is making. Although, a long engagement probably won’t make a difference. Maturity will help, but I have to admit it took me 15 years to figure it out.
“This is a family matter and, really, none of our business. We are inundated with societal busybodies inserting themselves in our daily lives, telling us what we should or shouldnt be doing. We conservatives dont have to join that mob...”
I don’t disagree that this is a family matter. May I be so bold as to comment that the girl is an idiot for airing family matters in the media?
You assume too much:
1. The engagement will not be broken off
2. The marriage, if it happens, will last longer than Jan 20, 2013
3. The Johnsons will still be living with Bristol's parents at age 21
Oh please, there is no person with anything between their ears other than mush that would take any advice from Levi, nor do they want to hear him or see him.
Geesh He isn’t a man. He is a sniveling liar and cheat who has done nothing real to redeem himself other than run to the tabloids for attention.
They probably figured the announcement would bring a firestorm of publicity, so why not get the mo$t out of it?
Small price to pay in the long run, surprising the folks.
Would be nice if they’d quietly elope.
So quick after he came back. Breaking this in a magazine cover without telling her parents....is a huge red glag indicator.
Im afraid that Bristol is proving to be a immature young lady.
Hopefully it works out, but Im guessing there is huge heartbreak and manipulation in her future.
HUGE mistake, but hope its sincere and they make it. Just don’t believe a leopard can change his spots that fast (Levi). Tripp looks like grandpa!
