Man kills self inside Valpo gun range

VALPARAISO | Valparaiso police said a 60-year-old Valparaiso man shot himself to death Tuesday afternoon inside the gun range at Blythe's Sport Shop, 2810 N. Calumet Ave.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus after the shooting for treatment of a gunshot wound to the head. He died a short time later, according to Porter County Coroner Bob Schulte.
Valparaiso police spokesman Sgt. Michael Grennes said the man was in the range test-firing a handgun belonging to Blythe's when he turned the gun on himself. He fired a single shot to the head, Grennes said. Grennes said the man obtained the gun by expressing interest in buying it.
Grennes said all indications are that the shooting was not an accident, that the man intentionally shot himself.
The shooting occurred about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday and the man was transported by Valparaiso Fire Department medics.
Older people, seniors and baby boomers who voted for him really screwed themselves.
I was vacationing in New Hampshire a couple of years ago and rented a handgun. However when I went out to the firing line I discovered next to me were some punks with an AR15 fully auto that they rented. I saw them getting a quick lesson from the counter guy beforehand. I didn’t fire a shot. I turned around and told the guy behind the counter to give me my money back. I can’t believe that they allow that on a range.
Eff! If I lived in Milwaukee it might be an option. I have never been but I heard it was a nice town a LONG time ago.
so you’re saying he had a real head for it?
Well put.
Whoa! That would scared me and I would have left too. I always check all around because so people are not careful.
I bet the range liked it cause the kids probably burned through a lot of .223 ammo.
“test-firing a handgun belonging to Blythe’s when he turned the gun on himself.”
Yep. It works.
Some people were never meant to be born. They know nothing but despair their entire lives. Then they die (usually by their own hands) and get an eternity of additional torture.
Best solution is for everyone to stop having kids but there is no hope for the ones already here.
I guess it all depends on what the meaning of “buying it” is.
He “bought it”, alright.
Boy, attempting an armed robbery at a gun range. Talk about having brass ones.
I was just there, a couple weeks ago with a couple of my friends, because its close to them.
God rest his soul. I hope he is at peace now.
Were you at the manchester firing line? I used to shoot there every week when I lived in Nashua years ago. Great FA rentals.
I arrived at the MFL about 3 hours after a suicide one time. The place was already cleaned up and you would have never known it had happened.
People are going to kill themselves. Restricting rentals doesn’t prevent suicide anymore then childproof asprin bottles. It’s tragic, but inevidable.
All it would do is raise the cost of suicide by the membership fee.
Just what is it that you’ve done in your life that makes you fear death so much? Don’t you look forward to meeting Him?
Bear in mind that even Elijah, Isaiah, Daniel, etc were “trembling” in the face of the Lord. Most of the apostles were afraid as well (”Who is this man, that even the seas obey him!”).
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, as the proverb goes.
It may be inevitable, but if I were a range owner, I'd rather it be carried out elsewhere.
