FReeper Request: Conservative Talk Radio Being Jammed? (VANITY)
Windcatcher

Posted on 07/12/2010 4:37:22 PM PDT by Windcatcher

For several weeks, we have been having trouble listening to Beck, Rush, and Hannity (and usually only those) in our area. Our local station is 1210AM, and seemingly a few seconds after each show starts a nasty interference kicks in and only stops after Hannity is finished. Tonight is unusual in that it's happening right now. It only seems to happen here in Delaware County (PA), according to my father.

TOPICS: Conspiracy; Weird Stuff
KEYWORDS: 1210am; interference; jammed; jamming
Would some local FReepers ming turning your radio on to see if you're seeing this? The interference is really horrendous. Could some leftie be trying to jam 1210AM here in Delco?

Not just Delco. Definitely problems in New Castle County (Delaware) and possibly in NJ, too.

No trouble in Chester County. Some difficulty when driving parallel to power lines, but that affects all AM radio.

Glad you said Rush, Beck and Hannity and not Smerconish. Gave him up when he opted for the Bamster. Turned on to 990AM and Bill Bennett's "Morning in America" from 6-9am. Excellent, cerebral content and guests. Much better than what Smerconish and crew have become -- a poor imitation of Howard Stern.

Wouldn't be hard to do if the FCC turned a blind eye.

When I was 12 I built a little transmitter using one of those projects at radio shack. My best friend and I would hook it up in his garage to block the station our sisters were watching "Family Affair" on so that we could get to watch "Rat Patrol".

His mom was sure we were doing something to mess with our sisters, but could never discover how.

Try 104.7 FM Pittsburgh, Quinn and Rose, Glenn Beck at 10 and Rush at 12.

Great story! I’ll bet you were a smart kid with a healthy touch of mischief.

How many kids today could achieve such a feat? Sad commentary on the state of education today.

During the summertime AM radio is plagued with noise. It varies with solar conditions. Some days signals are strong and clear and others they are weak and noisy. Also power connections dry out and start acting like mini transmitters and power line noise becomes a factor. If you can track the noise to a power pole, the power company can clean it up. This is why we have FM radio.

You could always listen online www.ksfo560.com and many others stream Rush and Levin.

Sad commentary on the state of education today.

...and also what is no longer available at the toy/junk/cellphone place still laughingly called "Radio Shack, rather than Cheap Chinese Trash House.
