Why does Rush Limbaugh....

This is not an important question and you can ignore it if you wish.

I have been listening to Rush Limbaugh since 1998 ( only when I can of course), but for the life of me cannot understand why he does the following ( I am sure he has reasons but I've never heard him explain it ) :

* When he mentions Jesse Jackson, he never used the name : "Jesse Jackson", but almost always says -- The Reverend Jackson, in a very strange tone, as if trying to sound very respectful ( I can't quite describe it. Experienced listeners will understand ).

* Where on earth is Rio Linda and why does he refer to that place everytime he mentions some important FACTOID that we all should know...

* Why does he mock the Former Secretary of Labor's name everytime he uses it as in ROBERT REICHSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ( lasting about 10 seconds ).

Let's start with the above 3 first and I'm sure I have other Limbaugh mannerisms I'd like to ask about later.

I do indeed. I used to listen to him every day when humanly possible. It felt like the only 3 hours of daily sanity in a mad, mad, mad world. Now at least there are a few other options, all thanks to Rush’s pioneering efforts of course.

He is lampooning the way the Rev talks.

Negative. He is affectionately lampooning his hero and mentor, William F. Buckley. Buckley, as you probably know, had some very unusual speech patterns, and in his television show when he introduced the Reverend Jesse Jackson, he pronounced it much like Rush does.

When Rush began his Sacramento show he drove around the area and hit a slum area on the fringe of Rio Linde. He decided to poke fun at the ritzy Rio Linde folk for the cars he saw sitting on blocks, the couches on the front porches, etc.

He is imitating the way Reiche introduced himself after his appointment to the Clinton cabinet.

Why is this a waste of thread ? I posted it on the general chat thread, which by definition is where miscellaneous topics can be discussed. If you think it’s a waste of time, I wonder why you bother, well, wasting your time on this thread...

That is of course totally false. I posted those question because I want to know. The explanations given to me thus far, allow mt to GET IT. How you conclude I will never (your word not mine) get it, I don’t understand.

OK, I guess I'm the one that doesn't get it. I think everything Rush does on his show is obvious, but my Liberal Relatives have no concept of the use of Sarcasm as ridicule.
That's why they really hate Ann Coulter as well as Rush.

Rush makes his show entertaining by showing the obvious stupidity of Liberalism and he likes to poke the Left with a stick to get them all riled up. If he just did straight commentary, it would get stale.

My favorite bit on his show is Bo Snerdly doing his “Official Obama Criticizer” segments. Rush, the supposed Bigot, has had Bo Snerdly, (his show biz name), as his Producer for twenty years. Bo is more African American than Obama could ever dream of being.

Listen to Mark Levin for a week and see if you like him. He has a different take than Rush, being a Constitutional Attorney, but he cracks me up as well.

I listen to Rush on my way to lunch, and listen to Mark Levin on my way home ( both for half an hour ).

Levin has that ability to dissect an issue and compare what libs are doing with what the constitution tells us.

The difference between Levin and Rush is the former ( like Bob Grant ) does not suffer fools and his not shy in scolding and calling liberal callers names.

However, Levin can be very sentimental ( especially when he talks about his dog, Sprite, who suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the animal hospital ).

In addition to the story about his Dog, he talks about his friendship with Rush.
