This is not an important question and you can ignore it if you wish.
I have been listening to Rush Limbaugh since 1998 ( only when I can of course), but for the life of me cannot understand why he does the following ( I am sure he has reasons but I've never heard him explain it ) :
* When he mentions Jesse Jackson, he never used the name : "Jesse Jackson", but almost always says -- The Reverend Jackson, in a very strange tone, as if trying to sound very respectful ( I can't quite describe it. Experienced listeners will understand ).
* Where on earth is Rio Linda and why does he refer to that place everytime he mentions some important FACTOID that we all should know...
* Why does he mock the Former Secretary of Labor's name everytime he uses it as in ROBERT REICHSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ( lasting about 10 seconds ).
Let's start with the above 3 first and I'm sure I have other Limbaugh mannerisms I'd like to ask about later.
Thanks.
Spot on!
I don't know about that.....I'm a really rotten, irresponsible person...don't know if SAF would be comfortable with that.
RE: Spot On !
NOPE, NOT SPOT ON. See my response Post #134
Someone with multiple exploding targets....I'm thinking.
Just a guess.....
LOL.....well my reply was more than a tad tongue in cheek in tone. The point about calls he used to get from that area, however....that’s true.
That said, it’s no more “redneck” or “hillbilly” than anywhere else, in fact.
Glad to clear that up...like a NE Okie pond.
Bingo! You get a cupie doll. Yes it was CO and yes, thousands showed up. IMO, this was a significant event in conservative history, a watershed. I remember those days. I'd listened to Rush and hear people from all around the USA who were like minded. It was like a conservative diaspora. We were isolated and unconnected. Rush was a focal point-especially with his TV show. Dan's bake sale was a re-union of sorts. The conservative movement was underway.
The advent of the Monica Lewinsky via Drudge Report vis Newsweek was another watershed event in conservative history.
Anyhow, everyone who work in talk radio needs to wake up in the morning and bow three times in the direction of Palm Beach County, Florida and say " we are not worthy".
My my, you are a nasty one, aren’t you? Toodles? Cute. LOL
Bonus points to me since I know what Dan made to sell himself at his bake sale?? ;)
Reading through all the explanations of Open Line Friday, they follow on this theme. It is not simply that callers shall choose the topic that day -- Rush is a professional, strives every day to provide listeners with the most quality program he can produce. He has said that he talks about what he is interested in, he decides the topics, the program layout, instructs Mr. Snerdley as to what will and will not be allowed Monday through Thursday in order to do this. On Friday, however, he challenges himself to make the program as interesting and entertaing as the rest of the week even though he lets the callers determine what will be discussed.
One time I called with a subject, and Snerdly told me that he couldn’t take a call on that subject today, but I should call back on Open Line Friday. So there is a difference.
I think the Reichchchch thing is to make fun of Reich insisting his name is pronounced the German way. In America usually it’s pronounced “Rike.” I think Reich himself pronounces it a bit arrogantly with the German ccccch sound. Rush is mocking him.
Did you hear the one today, a blast from the past?? Rush pronounced Erskine Bowles “Irksome” Bowles, as he did in the Clinton days.
My pleasure.
Do you remember the day he gave the heartfelt endorsement of Bill Clinton over George H.W. Bush, all the people who called in, outraged, disappointed, the "I can't believe it! I'll never listen to you again!!" moaning and wailing ... until the end of the show and he tells people to take a glance at their calendars? (It was April 1, 1988).
DEFINITELY!!! You can listen online or on your iPhone with the I heart radio app too. Tim Conway Jr does this on his show and it is FUNNY! Tim is funny and a great conservative, and the contest is DIFFICULT - just figuring out what the hell Jesse Jackson DID say in a number of audio bites. Listen in! Call in and win a prize. It's funny. My kids don't let me miss it.
The one and only time I called, I got through ... and made Rush laugh when I answered a question he’d had, it was great!
Speaking of ditto-heads, does anyone need to know the definition, the origin of the nickname and the difference between a ditto-head and a mind-numbed robot?
Oh, interesting reasoning for HR homing in on every Rush thread. See, I always thought it was because he once peed in a hotel lobby urinal next to Rush’s and has been ever since very insecure about his masculinity.
Look up Rio Linda’s Land prices and you will get the drift!
If you don't understand Rush after listening for so many years, I'm afraid you will never get it. Unfortunately, it tells me that the Libtards will never get it either.
Like another Poster said, read the Books Rush wrote and get a copy of the new book about him. It might help.
Now, let's see a post about Mark Levin saying “Thank me very much”. That should be an eye opener.
