My two cents...for in vehicle carry...the Judge rocks. Lots of firepower and flexibility of loads.

For me...on person, Kimber 45, nicest handgun I have ever fired. It truly feels like an extension of your arm. Crimson trace and you can shoot from the hip if you have to.

But for availability of ammo, etc...a Springfield 9mm is a great choice.

I am really happy with my Glock 19. I am getting a Glock 26 later this week. It is a bit smaller, very easy to conceal.

I have a mini-Glock, which is light and easy to carry. But, far and away, I love the Walther PPK, and that will be my next gun.

If SR9 is too bulky for ya, you won’t have much options bigger than a 380.

Kahr PM9

And that’s about it for 9mm. You better look at 380.

leaning towards auto

You mean semi-auto. I can only recommend the Glock’s. If you want to carry try their sub-compacts, 27,36 etc. Good and reasonable. Anything with a .4 in it anything less and you can use it as a hammer or for throwing.

Here are my little guns. The Kahr PM9 is pretty close to a pocket pistol and is the easiest to ccw. The S&W is also easy to carry, but most of the time I carry the Glock G26. It's a tad bigger and bulkier, but it's the smallest 9mm I could find with 10+1 capacity. I carry these in the summer and a 1911 in the cooler months.

Kel-Tec mini-9 is the gun of choice for off duty police around here. If it’s too expensive, Glock G-26 would be and is my choice. Just learn to use the awful trigger.

I would definitely recommend an auto ... The ammo capacity and reload time is important, as in an emergency where help may not come.

There's really only one CCW handgun in the world, and that would be the Smith model 642 in .38 special. Fully enclosed hammer and it goes blam five times "for sure". With only a little effort you can carry it year-round in any attire except maybe your speedo. All the rest are imitations.

Here's the 642 club:

OK, I’m not going to start another vanity post, but, it seems to me in my small little mind that there is an increasing number of new posters that come on to FR and and are always asking about recommendations for firearms. They are always the same questions; What is the best... “fill in the blank”. I would think that these redundant posts could be summarized into some sort of “stickies”.

My question: Are these numerous posts and responses making us look like a bunch of gun crazed “anti-governement” types?

BTW, I enjoy the firearms related posts and anything gun related more than most anything else, but it just has me wondering. Are we being “setup” to be labeled as a “pro-gun site”?. Personally, I have no fear as I am getting past my prime. But, it is just something to think of? Flame away if you feel like it.
