Listening to the local news radio station this morning, there was a story about Galveston finding tar balls in the surf offshore. Something seemed vaguely odd about how it was described, but couldn't put my finger on it at the time. The tarballs were described as roughly the size of ping-pong balls.
Hmm. Then I forgot about it. Until just now, the golfing thing hit me. Some liberal at CBS radio made a deliberate decision (not) to use the most likely description of that size. "Golf ball" sized..
Trying to remember the last time I ever heard the term "ping-pong sized" used in any news coverage, describing anything. Seriously.
Nope.
Can't think of a single time. Ever.
"Golf ball sized".
Media liberals', transparent partisan spin continues. Anything for their fellow traveler.
Out golfing, again.
See-BS. Fits like a handmade glove.....
Good catch.
...sent it to Druge..
I heard he played 8 rounds over the long weekend.
I don’t get it. Why is this problematic? What underlying agenda are you suggesting prompted them to use “ping-pong” instead of “golf” in this context?

I think the MSM is trying to avoid any mention of golf so as to not remind all of us that “Nero” is out golfing as “Rome” burns...so to speak :)
We've outsourced our balls to the Chinese.
Of ping-pong?
The Muslim President of Space is not amused.

???
OK sorry it’s a rather non-earthshaking post. Which is why I used chat.
My point was, that it’s another example of media bias. This one, I allege is probably deliberate.
Somewhere in the editorial decision making process at CBS, I think some liberal consciously replaced the most likely description of that size a tar ball - which would seem to this poster to be the size of golf balls.
With one which does not allude to the game of golf.
Which, coincidentally, Obama was out doing again this weekend, while those tar balls were arriving at Galveston.
Granted, not exactly breaking news. :)
Still.
And there is one outlet that didn't get the memo and uses the g-word. Click below, it's found on the second page of the article...
Tar balls turn up on the Texas coastline
:)
Went there and left a comment. Some here may poo poo this, but, it is an excellent example of how those that support The One will stand on their head for him.
Media bias??? Maybe the person that wrote it, just wanted to use a different term, or doesn’t like golf, or is a ping-pong player?
It doesn’t matter what size the tar balls are—they have been showing up on the beaches at Galveston since time began, I should think. There are deposits of oil under the surface along the Gulf Coast. Sometimes, some of that oil bubbles up to the surface and land on the beach.
It’s as common as sand down there. No biggie!
