Kyron Horman's Stepmother Allegedly Tried to Hire Hit Man, Report Says

One month after the disappearance of 7-year-old Kyron Horman, police reportedly said a landscaper told them the Oregon boy's stepmother tried to hire him to kill her husband, Kaine Horman.

After a month with no trace of Kyron the family still hopes for his safe return.The allegation, first reported in The Oregonian but confirmed by ABC News affiliate KATU-TV in Portland through a source close to the investigation, thickens the cloud of suspicion surrounding Terri Horman, the last person to see Kyron before he went missing on June 4

The landscaper allegedly told police that Terri Horman approached him about killing her husband six or seven months before Kyron disappeared, the sources said.

Geez, between the rumor mill, LE not talking, ditzy friends, and reporters who can’t get the facts straight, now we have “reliable” sources who aren’t reliable. What are we, 10 weeks out and all this time the people at the farm where Dede was working were saying she left unexpectedly or abruptly at 11:15 and they couldn’t find her for lunch but now they’re saying she was missing from 9:45 to 1:00. Make up your minds already!!!

This earlier time puts a whole new light on it. So, what time did Dede show up? Who saw her? And when?

Something else. Watch the video with Dede’s dad. The blonde reporter is asking him questions and several times he says, “no comment.” She then asks him, “Are you concerned for your daughter?” and he answers, “Yes, I am.”

To me, that’s very telling.

Everyone seems to be presuming that since a couple clerks from Starbucks testified in front of the GJ for several hours today, that “””obviously””” TMH must have stopped there for coffee and never admitted it on the timeline.

However, Portland has many dozens of Starbucks, WHO is to say that it wasn’t a Starbucks out in Hillsboro, right near the Intel campus???

Really, all the info suddenly cascading out makes me think that LE wants to see precisely how their POI PERP reacts to each new piece of news.

IF Desi is correct, and it turns out that Kyron was stashed by Terri, then where did she stash him, and why?

I believe that if Desi is correct, then Terri sent Kyron into the huge international network of the CHILDREN OF THE UNDERGROUND -- to protect him and keep him away from those who'd harm him -- and who knows where he's actually located? I've also wondered if she stashed him with friends or with some "nanny" somewhere, hoping to reconnect with him after she divorces Kaine and that she believes she'll get custody of her daughter back.

To answer your question why Terri would *stash* Kyron - it might be to avenge the removal of her 16 year-old son from the Horman home.

To send Kyron into *protective custody* with an organization (or individual) would have taken planning and coordination. The Childrens Underground you refer to; would be much more efficient and less likely to cave from the media and LE attention than a local girlfriend.

Based on reports from friends and acquaintances and even Desiree & Kaine ; they have not said Terri is a woman capable of murdering a child on impulse or pre-meditation. And Kyron does not appear to be a wilful, difficult child who would provoke physical discipline.

I am totally mystified.

What if June 4th, was the day Kaine was going to be *offed* and Kyron was the bait to get Kaine out of the house?

i.e. The guy in the truck had Kyron and was supposed to call Kaine to pick him up....but something went wrong on Sauvie Island................????

Yep, you figured out some prime core aspects of this case very very very long ago.

It occurs to me, that with all the discovery about the vast lush fields of thriving marijuana cultivated in the rural Portland area, providing a multi-billion dollar industry to the state of Oregon, that we may, repeat: 'MAY' - as in, just maybe we have discovered the actual reason why so many primary players are so very reticent with the press.

AND... due to how utterly strange so much of this case is, IF Kyron is anywhere in the CHILDREN OF THE UNDERGROUND, I wonder if any of the adults associated with it would ever permit Kyron to return to his childhood home.

I think you are very acute in your observations of possible scenarios; the only reason that I believe that Kyron is still ALIVE is that were an "accident" to have happenned, I believe that TMH would have been utterly distraught.

I'm going to have to have clear cut evidence that she didn't love her stepson whom she raised from such an early age.

If Kyron is being held by COTU members - what kind of environment is normal? Would he be with other children and what kind of reason is he being given for his *vacation*?

Kyron is reportedly a quiet, shy 7 year-old boy - but we can still expect that he will not be given access to TV or the internet. No cell phones either.

What kind of people would keep a child from his bio parents and what story from Terri have they accepted as reason for doing so?
You think drugs and/or sexual abuse???

Have any children been released back to their parents by the COTU because of falsehoods? Has this organization been investigated by the FBI or CPS in any State??

I don't recall any other missing child case where the cops have been so jealous of hiding ALL info, plenty of which may have helped assist the public in locating Kyron and returning him to Desiree & Tony.

Have his bodily remains already been located, but the LEOs want to make positive to apprehend the perp, and thus are acting so strangely???

OR..... are they so utterly clueless that they actually have only scant evidence about Kyron's disappearance, and thus have no idea where he is, no idea if he is living or dead?

OR..... do they know he is alive & well, and for some reason are keeping this from becoming public knowledge?

Finally, I am VERY curious why the birth parents appear to be fully satisfied with this investigation??????

Almost anyone who works in a domestic violence shelter, and also there are many fundamentalist Christians, too, know how to contact the COTU to provide sanctuary to an abused child who needs to remain hidden from his family of origin.

They are international, having safehouses everywhere. The FBI can't crack them, as they initially got organized because they believed that courts were giving total custody of children to many parents who were abusing their kids -- they do NOT trust the legal system.

Margi McCue of Portland/Milwaukee, OREGON has had direct involvement with Faye Yager and a number of underground cases. She is involved with the Unitarian Universalist Services Committee that has many global activities but has not yet been directly connected to the Underground.

Connie Valentine's current organization is the California Protective Parents Association that has a Web site that is hosted by the California National Organization for Women. Valentine, was once a state employee who worked with mental health patients was reassigned to administrative duties in 1993 after her appearance on a nationally televised show in which she claimed a satanic cult forced her to kill people when she was a little girl. Her organization used the underground term 'protective parent'.

April Meyer is vying for the position of the next Faye Yager. We hear that April has now moved up to Dexter, OREGON with her parents. Her parents, James and Mary Curtis have admitted to helping to hide several underground moms and their children at the so called Curtis Compound. April has appeared on Sally, Geraldo, Leeza and in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Article. Yet, she claims to not know the location of her daughter. We understand LifeTime Cable did a movie on her story and she made some money. Now let's ask some of these reporters how they concluded that April Meyer had nothing to do with hooking Amanda up with Underground. Do they honestly want us to believe that Amanda alone decided to call up Faye Yager and go Underground......

More illegal drugs and no arrests. Seems the Craiglist article was right that there are pay offs to officials. I wonder what else is on LE’s list of bribes? COTU? That might explain so of the weirdness but not the bio parents’ satisfaction with the investigation.

Additionally, Beaverton police said more than 30 more peyote cacti were seized, as well as steroids and more than 2 pounds of dried marijuana. Five firearms also were reportedly found at the home.

Thanks for the confirmation, it's nice to have posters to commiserate with about this extraordinary public face of the Portland LEOs --- which frankly, make me VERY suspicious, and although I know that Portland is a beautiful city, I'm glad I visited it years ago --- as I certainly never intend to be anywhere near it ever again in my life.

This case is waaaaaay beyond spooky, and that goes beyond the crime itself, making one start to seriously wonder if they are intentionally trying to cover up for the Perp, if THEY are somehow involved, or if they are being blackmailed by a foreign pot cartel and/or dangerous gang to not solve the disappearance of Kyron.

I do realize that any adult can "snap" -- but we have no evidence that Terri snapped, and now that we see that they are investigating her girl friends and even interrogating Starbucks clerks.....

It's like..... common' guys, the Coffee Klatch Clique of Portland yuppified overweight gal pals who love to cook & eat, to garden & exercise, to chat & text all day on cell phones.... they simply didn't turn into a crew of child murderers...
