I was the shortest guy in our Squad (5'8") that could bench 200+, so I was always stuck with the M60, and later M240. That is, until I went through OCS and they handed me a useless 9mm pistol, clipboard and a map!
My guess, a rock chip, he was lucky.

And you were told in no uncertain terms by your Platoon Sergeant to put the map down, and don’t ever try to use it.....
I see lots of these videos, wonder if they could be more easily ended if they had a periscope binocular. These used to be standard gear back before the error of the modern solder in the trenches.
It always seems that the issue is the enemy knows where you are but you don’t know where all they are.
My thoughts exactly.
