Good evening, TiaPammie. Fireworks at the hight school were last night and we missed them.

We will watch them on TV later.

We just finished dinner ... hubby BBQ’d steaks. WE had green salad with avocadoes, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. Delicious. I have a decorated cake for later .... white with red, white and blue frosting.

Today would have been my Mom’s 97th birthday. July 4th was always a special day for our family.

Hope your 4th was special.

LOL! You can tell Marissa that having steaks IS a BIG HOLIDAY dinner out here on the desert!

I haven't had a steak for months! (And I'm getting tired of whole wheat bread, no sugar, no oil, no butter, no pasta, no rice, no white potatoes, no beef, no gravy.)

SO I'M SNEAKING SOME.....Shhhhhhhh - don't tell!

LOL

She thinks turkey, ham and all the dressing is for holidays. She did enjoy the steak and she is looking forward to dessert later.

Thanks for that FRanniversary greeting Amy.

I remember when I signed up that 4th of July evening in ‘98. Someone had started a thread honoring our military, past and present. It’s been a great ride these many years at FreeRepublic.

I found FR through a link at Drudge and after lurking a few months, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to answer the call to muster from we Vets.

Retreating Forward
July 5, 2010

A friend told me about his church’s leadership retreat. For 2 days, church leaders pulled away for a time of prayer, planning, and worship. My friend was not only refreshed but also energized. He told me, “This retreat is really going to help us move forward as a church ministry.”

It sounded funny to me—this notion of retreating in order to move forward. But it is true. Sometimes you have to pull back and regroup before you can make meaningful forward progress. This is particularly true in our relationship with God.

Jesus Himself practiced “retreating forward.” After a busy day of ministry in the region of the Sea of Galilee, He retreated. Matthew 14:23 tells us that “when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.” Alone in the presence of the Father.

In this fast-paced, get-ahead world, it’s easy to wear ourselves down—pressing ahead and moving forward at all costs. But even in our desire to be effective Christians, we must consistently be willing to retreat into God’s presence. Only in the refreshing of His strength can we find the resources to move forward in our service for Him. Retreat in Jesus before moving forward.

To face life’s many challenges
And overcome each test,
The Lord tells us to take the time
To stop. To pray. To rest. —Sper

Alone with the Father is the only place to find the strength to press on.

Read: Matthew 14:13-23

When He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. —Matthew 14:23

Good Monday Morning Meg!

Somewhere in that photo is Abraham Clark, one of the Signer's. I am a direct decendant of AC. My great grandmother was Abraham Clark's great great granddaughter. ( I think I have that right! lol) My great grandma was Harriet Clark. Dad often talked about his Grandma.

I was gone most of yesterday! What a day..To church and to a picnic and fireworks in the park.

It did this ol grammy in!! Walked for blocks with blankets and chairs. Over 8,000 at the park stuffed in and waiting for the fireworks. Then to walk again to the car, tired with arms full of blankets after it was over.

The strangest thing happened.

When the fireworks show started, swarms of beetle type bugs came flying out of trees and landed on us, and everyone else. No one was able to really enjoy the show. They were swatting their American Flags at the beetles screaming and yelling. Many quickly left! It really was humorous in a way.

I thought in essence that is what we are all doing. Trying to combat the Obama attacks ( beetles) to hold on to our Heritage!!

We in truth will gain more ground by Prayer and Fasting.

enough jabbering. Need to get my day started here....

cool and overcast.

Polly

Let’s Talk!

Come in and let your mind run free. We’ll talk of many things.
Of shoes, and ships, or cabbages, whatever discussion brings.
You’ll note we have a patriotic flair, we thank our men who serve,
And thank the ladies who are out there too. We marvel at their nerve.

Nature gets our attention too, both ours and that around,
We keep our eyes up to the skies, with both feet on the ground.
We like to stretch our Dreamworld, so it can hold the most,
But first let’s welcome all our guests, and Thank You to the host!

A swimming cat. Unusual. They automatically know how to swim.

Wouldn’t it be nice to just know stuff like skiing, dancing, swimming, painting, public speaking, cooking, ... without the fear attached to it? Fear can be a good thing.

When was the last time to try something new (not done before)?

beautiful devotion.

We have become trained it is only okay to discuss the instructions/commands of God in Church. Let us bring it out of the church this election time and say no to Abortion, homosexuals agenda, marriage redefined,, drugs, criminals invading our homes, etc..
We have become so politically correct we are cowards. Hate speech and the like is cowering us.MO
