Do you know about how old the other driver was? 18-25?

The force that you and your car experienced would be as if you hit a stationary object at 65 mph.

Given the angle he described my guess is that it's somewhere in between.

Aww, that would cut the numbers in half, LOL. 7 million is more impressive than 3.5 million.

(Sorry to be glib... mostly just bored in bed. Thanks to all FReepers for giving me a diversion while I'm recovering.

Happened 14 hrs ago

14 hours ago would be 3 or 4 in the morning Midwest time?

Holy Mackeral!

Glad to see that you’re OK. Sad to see that the other driver didn’t make it. Please take it easy for a few days, and GET CHECKED OUT thoroughly by a doctor. Sometimes, injuries hide themselves.

What saved you was that your car was more massive than hers. Visualize a bat hitting a ball, with her car as the ball. The bat decelerates a bit, but the change in velocity of the ball is very high. It comes from the Conservation of Momentum law

Don't worry, the photos are plenty impressive!

Accidents like this will be a thing of the past when Obama has us driving gocart like vehicles and speed limits are 45 MPH.

Then my math was a bit off. The accident was at about 4pm, Kansas time. I got to the hospital in Wichita (about 15-20 miles away) at 4:43 according to my wristband.

Right now, you are still probably in shock. Once that wears off, you will probably have a little "survivor guilt". Let yourself grieve. Prayers, and talking it out will help a lot.

Don't be afraid to ask your loved ones for help getting through this tough time.

God Bless you. You and the girls family are in my thoughts and prayers.

What article is that? The short blurb you posted didn’t have that. Just curious.

That is incredible. Thank God you survived.

I was nearly killed in a car accident about 9 years when an elderly lady ran a stop light. Thank God she hit the rear driver's side door and not the front (I was driving). If she had been a fraction of a second faster, or if I had been a fraction of a second slower, I might not be here typing this post. I came through with severe whiplash (that still haunts me to this day) and lost teeth, while the other driver was saved by her airbag, but the car I was driving looked kind of like a taco afterwards, and it was my son's car!

I have no memory of the accident. I do know from witnesses that I was the fourth car through the intersection so I had the green light for several seconds, and I also wonder if I couldn't see her because of other vehicles blocking my view like a semi-tractor (I always looked both ways before entering an intersection even after I get a green light, now more than ever). The witness behind the other driver said she never hit her brakes and hit me going about 60-65 MPH.

If not for the grace of God who knows what might have happened. I praise God that you are alive and kicking, from one fellow survivor to another.

I’ve got a Ford F-250. Last year I was stopped at a light and a woman in a Dodge Caravan drove into the back of me at about 20 MPH. I got out expecting to see the back of my truck all crumpled up. The only thing that I saw was some paint scraped off the hitch receiver. Her van was a mess. Her hood and bumper went under my truck and she had knocked the radiator loose.

That’s amazing. Glad to hear you’re ok.

If lawyers are going to be involved make sure you secure her cell phone records.

My thoughts exactly. I’d hate to see some slimeball lawyer turn this onto you as a wrongful death, you should know that they will try.
MULTITASKING is a myth and should not be attempted when you put others lives at risk - texting and driving.
