I need an iPhone 4
Got the iPhone 4, it’s truly a technical marvel. The screen resolution is phenominal - however it’s a lousy cell phone. Sure does everything else bettter than the competition - except make phone calls.
AT&T coverage is pathetic, I got 5 bars at my desk with Verizon; however I have to walk outside to get or make a call - and then I have to walk away from the buildings.
You NEED a case (or insulated gloves) as Apple saw fit to wrap the iPhone with the antenna - so simply holding the phone will short out the antennae (unless you have a cover, or wear insulated gloves).
Aside from the fact that it’s a miserable cell phone - it’s truly amazing.
BTW - you will need to buy a charger for work, as if you use the phone the battery drains in about 6 hours of playtime.
But it doesn’t print money.
Or grant you three wishes...
See, this is why I always wait for new tech to be tweaked before getting it.
I’ll stick with my iPhone 3GS (and being grandfathered in with unlimited data) for now.
bump
I cancelled my reservation. I hear they are coming out with a faster 4G network next year. My 3G iPhone will work till then.
You and many others. The new 4 upgrade software slows the 3g to a crawl.
Samsung i8910 Omnia HD is the best phone spec wise I’ve seen.
Samsung has drug its feet on releasing it in the US. I found the incremental upgrade of the Iphone4 pretty pathetic. I own an Iphone and it works well but it doesn’t do some very basic things that are infuriating that other phones do out of the box. If you really want to get the most out of it you have to jailbreak it which is crazy. Anyway enough of my love hate relationship with Apple.

i loaded the 4G operating system on my 3G and it seems faster maybe?
I'm waiting until the next iteration of iPhone (June '11 ?)... I live 25 mi. north of Dallas (AT&T's headquarter city). I'm sure the D/FW Metroplex will be blessed with AT&T 4G by then.
1. Getting the app started is slow.
2. Sometimes stumbles between wifi and 3g connections. turning off wifi corrects it.
It’s so confusing because one is a the name of the phone and the other is the network for using the internets. The 4G operates on a 3G network. Apparently AT&T is creating new faster network that is called 4G and there new phone next year is going to called a 5G that operates on it. That’s what I’ve read on some of the tech sites. Your millage may vary... I’m going to wait till the smoke clears.
OS 4 was not ready for primetime.
Yes, definitely turning off WiFi is what to do. I listen to talkradio riding my bike so it’s necessary.
Apps were always slow to start before and now, I was talking about surfing the internet on 3G seemed faster. But I can’t say it’s amazingly different.
But Apple says OS4 brings you over “100 amazing new features”!
I did get the new video player with zoom, that’s pretty cool.
Upgrading the software was a mistake. wish I could undo it.
Have a 3GS and still love it. I will not upgrade to a 4 until the they fix the terrible antenna issue, at the least.
For Steve Jobs to actually come out and tell people to just learn to hold the phone differently was probably one of the biggest low points in the history of Apple ever. That’s world class bad form. That’s embarrassing.
And I heard that this issue was mainly missed because when they were trying to be uber secret during most of its testing, they placed the phone in a different style case which made it look like a 3GS type phone. All so nobody, even most internal testers wouldn’t know what the finished product would look like or be able to release pics to the public.
By the time they seriously started testing it in the final case and discovered what a total clusterf@%k the antenna design was, it was too close to release time to change anything.
This is why after working in technology production suppport for 15+ years, I know better than to purchase or implement any software or hardware product that is v1.0. for customers or myself.
People have been conned into believing that Apple is somehow exempt from such policies, but I don’t.
I am looking at the Droid Incredible.
I do know that all of my Verizon phones actually work damn well as phone as opposed to most of their competitors.
Loved my Evo even with only 3G available. Now that they’ve turned on 4G here in St. Louis, it’s even better. Streaming radio goes without a hiccup, downloads are like broadband, and streaming TV looks like regular television.
I haven’t used my laptop since I bought it. It’s not quite a full Internet experience yet with Flash Lite (at least not until full flash support in v. 2.2), but it’s really close.
I love watching C-Span live on their website.
I have wanted an iPhone so bad that I can taste it, but I absolutely hate AT&T. I already have an iMac monster and an iPod... I love their products.
Verizon has always been very good to me. I have been all over the USA and never had a dropped call with Verizon service, and I have been in some very out of the way places.
Based on rumors, I have been waiting for Apple to contract with Verizon.... I have given up, so I’m thinking I will buy a Droid X.
I require a reliable phone and access to the internet.... with Verizon, I think I will get both. I’m told that the Droid X will not be out until July 15th and it may take 30 more days to get one. grrrrr I don’t wait well, but it does give me more time to study the issues.
