Wow, those are pretty.

I’m watching The Crumbling of America on the History channel.

Our bridges are in piss-poor shape.

I think maybe we should stop handing out money to other countries and fix our own chit!

Maybe the Chinese will build US some pretty new bridges when they finally get their hands on the keys to our Country.

Remember when it was the US who used to awe the world with its architectural wonders?

No more.

China is becoming what we were... and vice-versa.

To paraphrase the Joker (Dark Knight)

Yeah it’s a nice bridge....you should know, you paid for it.

At this rate, little Gimble won’t have a nickle to give to his grandmother.

I’ve been over many of those bridges, and over the Hangzhou bay bridge (between Shanghai and Ningbo) dozens of times. It’s so long, you can get to the middle (where they’re building a hotel), stop, get out, and you cannot see land in either direction - it’s OVER the horizon in each both directions!

Takes about 30 minutes to cross - it’s freakishly long!

I travel to Southern China about once a year and am blown away by the construction happening there. Construction cranes in every direction and as far as the eye can see. The only thing I've seen that we're doing that compares is the Hoover Dam Bypass project:

China is becoming what we were... and vice-versa.

A little article I wrote about that very thing.

Too many have forgotten that America isn't just a place, it's an idea. The Chinese (and most of Asia) are becoming America, as we're becoming Communist. America may die here in North America, but it is starting to live in Asia.

The beauty of those structures make me feel like we are not the most advanced country any more. I think America has crumbled and grown old. Dirty cities, and Wal-Mart people.

This cycle happens a couple times in a lifetime.

This will change back in our favor soon. In 1980 everybody was taunting America; by 1984-5 everybody was kissing our feet.

God turns his back on thee only for a little while, then He will bless you forever.

Be patient; Obama is a just false idol that will not prevail. He’ll resign by Thanksgiving 2010. imo

“I think America has crumbled and grown old.”

A friend sent me an email/slide show about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. AMAZING buildings, huge ferris wheel, parks, etc. Did I mention the unbelievable and futuristic buildings!?

It was followed by numerous photos of Detroit.

It ended with “And who won the war?!”

(Of course we gave them a lot of help to get them back on their feet!)

I was thinking the same thing. People all over the world use to be in awe of what we would build. Now our once proud roads and bridges are falling apart. The replacement span of the bay bridge out here in San Fran is a perfect example of what we’ve become. It’s been under construction for 4 years and is billions over budget. And it’s still not done. AND there will be nothing visually appealling about the thing. My how the mighty (USA) have fallen.

I think we’re still the most advanced nation, we just need to focus on our nation, screw the others.

We have become lazy.

We have bridges crumbling, water mains breaking but congress concerns themselves with baseball, restrooms, puppy mills on and on.

Most of congress doesn’t read the bills (they laugh at us when we demand they do), they are corrupt as all get out and some of them are darn stupid.

It’s time to put our foot down, get rid of the EPA and all those bureaucracies we pay, that only hinder us— they work for something besides the best interest of this country and her citizens.

If we pay all those fools to push paper and stop progress, think if that money went for people to work on rebuilding all we’ve neglected.

If China was so awesome, they wouldn’t need to steal/copy so many ideas, plans, technology etc.

They just work harder than us, imo.

All I see are targets for our bombers...

oh, yes, and notice how relatively *empty* they are?

Potemkin Village.

Cheers!
