I travel to Southern China about once a year and am blown away by the construction happening there. Construction cranes in every direction and as far as the eye can see. The only thing I've seen that we're doing that compares is the Hoover Dam Bypass project:

I watched a show on Discovery covering the building of that bridge near the Hoover Dam. Fascinating, to say the least. Quite an effort.
