Over the many years that I have been a member of FR, I have been assured that no thread is dumped without an explanation given. In the last hour, I have watched sever posted threads disappear without explanation. What the heck ... Mods on a rampage?
This posting will disappear in 3 ... 2 ... 1
To anyone who happens to be on the thread if they a refresh or attempt to reply. Here is an image from a recently pulled thread that was a duplicate.
We have no intention of going further and airing everyone's dirty laundry to the world as to why their threads may be pulled. Notification is given to those on the thread, but we can't read minds and guess who all else may want to know why.
I think a nicer way of putting it is that we support the Free Republic of the United States through, in this case, the promotion of private property (ie, this site). The right to private property is one of those principles that keeps our Republic free.
We don’t support Anarchy Republic or Liberal Republic.
It's because of the oil spill.
Now, he may have had something to do with the oil spill. I suspect he did, but I haven't been able to determine his specific connection to it.
Yet.
I'm not nicer, so I'll stick with my less abstract and more objective, more accurate original description.
In fact, the "private property" contribution of FR to freedom is negligible, if it exists at all. It is the semi-anarchic contribution of information and opinion by its members that gives it its value.
Free Republic isn't run like private property, except for the censorship component. It is run like a private charity. If it was a true demonstration of free capitalism, Jim would charge a membership fee sufficient to cover all costs and result in a profit as well.
We pay for it by enduring freep-a-thons......
Equal punishment for all.
Cute pic !

Yup, which is far more reminiscent of PBS than, say, ebay.
I find it distasteful. And I will call to the mat any admin or JIM HIMSELF who claims that FR is some sort of capitalistic beacon of freedom. It ain't. Not by a long shot.
Why?
LOL!
Jim Robinson would never give me admin moderator powers, nor would I accept them, if offered the opportunity!
I only have one loggon, as I have read the homepage, and try to follow all the rules....
