I love walking, but I would also love one of these things. Probably best for getting around in huge corporate or government office buildings, warehouses, etc. Looks like it doesn’t go as fast as I could go at a brisk walk, or go up and down stairs, or operate on rough or dirty ground. Also I wonder what the weight limit is; I weigh 135. Still—!

P.S. The blonde had really better cut her broken-off ends and rethink the bleach thing.

My wife has CP and is currently transitioning from forearm crutches to a wheelchair. She has been on crutches for over 50 years. She saw this the other day and wondered if it could work for her. Ya never know ...

I have three questions: (1) Does it come with a power supply alarm so that it will warn you so you don’t fall over with your bag of groceries right in front of the oncoming light rail? (2) Does it come with a parachute ejection system in case you crash? (3) Does it come with heavy duty super-size Michelle Obama seat?

You can carry it, and it balances by itself.

That's what my wife says about our checkbook...............

Antique 'ride inside' unicycle. These things have always fascinated me. I learned to ride a unicycle enough to make it the length of a basketball court, then gave it away to a clown who had his stolen. (True!).

Aww, how cute. It has dual seat pads, leaving a convenient space in the middle for hot gases to escape.

Man, those Japanses think of everything!

My husband has the rigid kind of Parkinson’s. I wonder if it would work for him.

Who could predict the applications of the horseless carriage, 125 years ago?

Japan is exploring ways to cope with an aging population (ways that don't involve immigration). They're into robotics in a big way. Personal mobility devices are another way to reduce the cost of caring for the elderly and infirm. This is an early version; I expect that there will be many changes to come.

Even if these devices are only used by staff in such places as: large factories, corporate campuses, airports, shopping malls (by mall cops), warehouses; that is still a large potential market. There doesn't have to be a large productivity gain, before the devices pay for themselves.

Honda has also developed “robotic legs”, mainly for use by factory workers. These devices will boost productivity & enable many older factory workers to work for more years. Those are very practical applications. Check out this Youtube video of the robotic legs in action:

I’m sure they’ll turn up in unexpected places ... the flightline guys on Segways were a bit of a surprise.

OK, I still think you have to be pretty lazy for one of those.

I also got a real sexual vibe there from the two girls. Like the “personal mobility vehicle” was a great pickup aide, like a sports car, for the lesbian set.

1) The Segway will stop working before the battery is drained. You think it's out of battery, but it's not, it's just refusing to work because it can't guarantee stability on the charge it has left. I assume something similar is on this.

I'd say no and no for the other two.

If these things get very popular the company will have to make them with larger and larger seats and perhaps offer periodic seat upgrades, or widegrades.
