Ten years ago, Tiger Woods won by 15 shots at Pebble Beach, but for the rest of the field there were other distractions.
This is the US Open and there is a Tiger in the room. It is just that nobody really wants to make eyes at him any more. Padraig Harrington nods and walks by. Lee Westwood makes a bit of small talk. But these days everyone is in love with Pebble and not with the man who 10 years ago turned it into his own beachfront property.

I think you’re right.
I just wonder if the boy was juiced like the home run hitters which makes a lot of his accomplishments less stellar.
Just curious, do you think Fredie Couples' dalliance with his mistress caused his golf game to decline or was it after he had moved back in with his cancer stricken wife then divorced her?
Someday I will play Pebble.....
SOMEDAY WE ALL HAVE TO PLAY PEBBLE!!
I hated this phony rat bastard long before his scandal. I hope he implodes this weekend.
There’s an excellent book-a collection of Golf Digest “My Shot”columns by Guy Yocom (sp?) A bunch of interviews with greats of the game. you don’t have to be a golfer to get a lot out of it.
Anyway, it came out a few years ago. There must be 4-5 golfers-I’m talking old pros-Sam Snead, and the like, who, while saying Tiger is a heck of a talent (hell, I’ll give him the fact he’s talented)said essentially “wait and see- a lot can happen” when asked about Woods breaking Jack’s record.
I hope he doesn’t.
Other than heresay, I guess we won't really know for sure will we?
However, you might want to put that question up to Bubba Watson who holds the longest drive average on the tour with 315 yds. over 70 rounds......Woods by the way ended up tied for 10th place.
I've yet to find a 'roid that helps one sink a 15 ft. putt or straighten out a pull or slice.........
But then again, who knows what those evil Chinese or Russian scientists are secreting to our premier golfers.....
In comparison, Obummer is destroying an entire nation.
One writer's not so objective article to be taken with a grain of salt......
Golf is not an arena of holy men, it's just a game in which the players make lots and lots of money. Nobody cares about the personal lives of their opponents, all they care about is ending a round under par and hoping to make the cut for the next day...........
Does the PGA do drug testing?
just curious.......
Thanks for putting a thread up FRiend!! Hope all is well....
As for Jack’s record being safe, I believe Lee Corso says it best-—NOT SO FAST!!
I’m thinking there’s plenty left in Tiger to win 4 more majors. Last time I checked he’s still a young pup. What I think we might be done seeing the dominating 6-8 win and multiple major seasons. ETW is most definetly a work in progress so if it’s 2011 before winning major 15, I wouldn’t be suprised.
Also, since he still will pick and choose when and where he plays, he’ll lose the #1 ranking for sure, possibly this week. Figure Phil and Lee both reach #1 at least for a few weeks each!
My picks for this week....
From the 40+crowd, Steve Stricker
From the soon to be the next Steve Stricker crowd.....Adam Scott
From the sorry Padraig Harrington but I can’t root for you anymore cause you were sorry you didn’t meet Obama when you were in DC and you find him charismatic and you gave him a set of clubs, crowd.....Ian Poulter
From the young guns crowd, NONE!!!
I see Phil is already expressing concern over many of the greens being fast. Now with the weekend being dry, may we see a repeat of Shinnecock???
We’ll see.....
I hope Tiger does well. HE needs it, GOLF needs it too.
While mightily disappointed in his crappy, un-MAN-like personal life, I still admire his ability on the links. I’d like to see him win this one and shut up his detractors and get over it. We all make totally stupid decisions in life, we just don’t see them on the front pages. He’s not a God like Obummzo...
I don’t know that story.
Probably not considering there is no need to do so........
USOPEN ping.....
Of course you don't, Freddie is a fave on the tour, the epitomy of wholesomeness so why dig into his personal life........
It’s really easy to root for Eric Compton. Really easy!!!
