I honestly cannot think of any remake that was as good as the original.

One possibility - the Marlon Brando/Trevor Howard version of “Mutiny on the Bounty” was a pretty good remake of the original (Charles Laughton and Clark Gable).

I honestly cannot think of any remake that was as good as the original. Many critics argue that the remakes of "The Ten Commandments," "Ben Hur," and "The Wizard of Oz" were better than the orignals, yet I still prefer the originals.

Sci-Fi channel’s Dune I thought was superior to the original.

Cecil B. DeMille did better on his 1950s remake of “The Ten Commandments” than the earlier silent version.
The Star Trek “reboot” was better than the original movie. (flame away!)
