In the event that the catastrophe takes place which we all are thinking about and talking about in these days under this regime, whether it be a global financial shut-down (see this scenario: http://www.grandpappy.info/honehour.htm), a military strike somewhere, or some such dire event unleashes sudden freeze-up of our society: How do citizens communicate?
CB? Short wave? Our lifeblood is communication. What are our options to maintain this link to patriots across the country?
I am sorry about directing my frustration toward you in addressing my replies.
I just see all the purposeful destruction to our nation being done and I find myself in a state of keyboard anger at the drop of a hat.
If its broken or has a problem — they will subvert it. If it works, they will quash it to subvert communication. If it needs changes or expansion, they will use the event to establish strangling controls.
The nation’s future is hanging by a string and that string is a November sea-change. The problem is that they fight dirty and effectively with no care for the nation and they see that time table just as we do.
very good point HH, although I’m not sure surviving in a world without FR would be worth it. /s
There is also the fact that most people are not going to go out a purchase and learn to use a ham radio. I had an FCC first class license at one time (job) and family years ago had a ham radio but I am out of date now. How much does a set up cost, starting from scratch?
A friend of mine designed rooftop windmills for a spell years back and claimed the best minimal wind usable energy design. At that time it may have been state of the art, but I’ll bet he has been out designed by now.
Ham radio is lots of fun, and might be our only means of communication one day...Plus ya learn a lot of neat stuff......I had to go through the code deal and learn 15 words code per minute to get the General....Never thought I'd do it, but did. Then some years later, they drop the code requirement.....lol
Read “The Second After” and you’ll be thinking of many
such questions.
How about....
KEEP OUT ! !! !!
TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT ! !! !!
SURVIVORS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN! !! !!

Some people believe that armed citizens dont stand a chance against an army, especially one as powerful as USA. This is the BS lie all governments around the world want you to believe, but the reality is very different.
If every block in the country, USA for example, has a dozen men with fire arms, the one that doesnt stand a chance is the military force. Its the perfect guerrilla setup, and a generals worst nightmare.
You cant nuke or level every block. You cant arrest the entire country. The fighters are already armed, fed, spread out, integrated and infiltrated into the military and government branches. Its impossible to win.”

Chin up, KC.
We have Sat phones. Make sure to construct a decent Faraday cage as well, and stockpile gas.
I’m excited about it. We like to travel around in our country and I can see me set up in our Airstream playing with it all over the place. I’m glad they dropped the the code requirement, but I still might try it for fun.
Code is fun.....Believe it or not, code is addicting and many amateur radio operators never use a microphone...In addition, code can get through during bad conditions over and above voice commo.
You bet...Those little radios are really a kick, and can talk to the world on little power
cnet ^ | 06/11/2010 | declan mcclugagh A new U.S. Senate bill would grant the president far-reaching emergency powers to seize control of or even shut down portions of the Internet. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2532575/posts
Not much..Maybe a couple hundred bucks with a nice used radio like a Kenwood TS-520...Google it...You can make your own long wire copper antenna for maybe 20 bucks or less.
