LIMA, Peru (AP) -- A Peruvian judge on Friday ordered Joran van der Sloot jailed on charges of first-degree murder and robbery in the killing of a 21-year-old Lima woman, determining he acted with "ferocity and great cruelty."
Lima Superior Court Judge Juan Buendia issued the order before dawn and the 22-year-old suspect was taken in an armored truck with seven other prisoners to a holding cell in the basement of Lima's judicial palace.

No death penalty in Peru, at least for this type crime. Still, the thought of spending signifigant time in a Peruvian prison should be scaring the crap outta this troglodyte...

If convicted on the murder and robbery charges, Van der Sloot would be sentenced to between 15 and 35 years in prison, court spokesman Luis Gallardo told The Associated Press.

Depending on the actual decision in the case (by a court) and the circumstances that can be proved ... the sentence could be as little as 5 years ...

His only chance now is to figure out how to get extradited to the USA on the Holloway charge.
That would only happen after he finished his sentence in Peru ... And, what the "Holloway charge" is about is extortion ... not murder and it probably wouldn't carry too much time.
