Good morning gardeners. It looks like from all the pictures and comments that most of your gardens are coming along great. My garden is about three weeks behind where it was last year at this time but all is well and it is coming along fine.
If you are a gardener or you are just starting out and are in need of advice or just encouragement please feel free to join in and enjoy the friendly discussion. Our Freeper community is full of gardeners, each with varying interests and skill levels from Master Gardener to novice.
If you have a question about gardening or just an observation to share please feel free to stop by and participate. There are no stupid questions, just honest ones.
TOPICS: Agriculture; Food; Hobbies

As far as I know it is. I imagine it’s more prevalent in those families who have had several generations living in the South are more familiar & enjoy okra on their menu.

Great pics!
Do you have deer? Rabbits? That are visitors.
As a non gardner I adore our native wildlife but I know others in the area not so much.

Sad to report but it appears the strong, red storm cluster I first noticed around Kerrville & heading our way on the radar has now weakened considerably as it nears us.
All I can see now is a green blob on the screen.
This is pathetic.

Tomato Horn Worm.
Ya just gave me the willies on that visual.

First cucumber harvest!! Just read that they are tastier when smaller, so I picked these large ones. The rest need more time, some only a little more time.

We have the opposite problem here in north Florida; not enough rain but lots of sun. Can you send some of the rain our way? :)
To: StopBigGovt
It would be nice if we could share, just to balance things out a little. :)

Those are nice and with that said I think I need to call over to the Farm I go to in the Valley and see what is up. And if I get a chance to go early on a weekend they make home made plain donuts. Our Strawberry season is on delay for a few weeks due to the heavy rain and lil to muddy for those who go out to the u pick farms. I dont u pick due to ability/agility issues and KVs WC does not like that terrain but the owners have plenty for us non pickers. This is the type of cukes they grow.

Hi Neighbor. Yes we will have sun for the first time in in a couple of weeks but the wind is going to be fierce and cold out of the N/W for a change. I think you'll enjoy this...

How about chili plants?
According to Anthony Boudour (sic) Texas is Chili growing world.
I watched a show where he visited Texas and The Nugent.
For such a lib leaning guy he sure enjoyed Teds shooting range, than again what man wouldn’t find pleasure in that event.

I am glad you enjoy the Gardening thread. You need to latch onto a surrogate gardener like Mr. Bender has! LOL
Show them where to dig and what to plant and when to come back to water and weed.

If it were not so much a problem I would have fried okra for a snack instead of chips or popcorn.

She lives in a similar environment a few hundred miles north of us. I had better change clothes and get out and get started catching up...

Bring on the Halibut. yum.
I got burnt out on Salmon last year “smoked” the catch I bought from the nieghbors boat.
Made great Christmas gifts though.
El Nino definetly had its effect on the sea life.
I heard Salmon stocks were expected to be huge this year.
Our town/community has been celebrating NOAA ground breaking for their west coast facility.
Huge boom for our economy.
Also our bayfront went through a revamp over the winter and is due to open back up.
This means for the first time in years since KV grew up the bay front will be WC friendly 100%...looking forward to playing tourists again when the Sun returns.
Thanks for the link.
Hey I have read around here of freepers who have bluberry bushes and I was wondering if they would do well in our wild blackberry growing climate.

Picking our first tomato of the season here. We had that late start so we could enjoy all the Spring lettuce, radishes and greens.
Tomatoes, peppers, squash, onions, herbs and carrots are going great. Eggplants for everyone are suffering with flea beetles. Need more soap tomorrow.
