They think throwing away the “Chevy” name is going to be good for business. Where do they find these people?

"... The original memo signed by Alan Batey, vice president for Chevrolet sales and service, and Jim Campbell, GM vice president for marketing told employees at the corporation's Detroit headquarters "consistency" is important for the Chevrolet brand -- and it would be helpful in that regard to stop referring to Chevrolets at Chevy" These tools just dorked their careers at Chevrolet up pretty good.
The other aspiring VPs there are probably giving each other high-fives in the executive lounge over these two screwups.

I wonder if Chevrolet Chase will be miffed...

a memo that asked employees to stop saying "Chevy." C'mon!
They once had a car called the "Chevy II"

No matter what you call it is still an under engineered, POS.

and this just in from the White House....
the term “apple pie” is hereby banned, to be replaced with “circular baked pastry dish containing a filling of pomaceous fruit”.

Now that’s a beautiful Chevy - too bad the company doesn’t exist anymore (doppelgangers in drag ought not to be confused with the real thing).

“When you look at the most recognized brands throughout the world, such as Coke or Apple for instance, one of the things they all focus on is the consistency of their branding,”
Let me get this straight. The argument is that the bottlers of Coca Cola -nicknamed and cited as ‘Coke’) is an example of how ‘Chevrolet’ should not be called ‘Chevy’?!?!?
I'd like my GM bailout money back, please.
Please!

This edict had to originate at the WH.
Only an Indonesian turd blossom would steal a great auto emblem and then prohibit its use.
Can we please say Islam?

Idiots. No wonder GM is a fail. I just want the marque to survive for the sake of the glorious Corvette.

Nice Bel Air. Pity about the ghetto-looking rims. Ruins the look of the car.

I thought it was strange of GM to order the word Chevy to be dropped since their latest Silverado commercial in the Dallas area featured an announcer with a very heavy Hispanic accent who liberally used the term Chevy.

It’s not just about the body work and an engine. Don’t forget the chasis/suspension and the trim inside the coach.
You need to be powerful, fast, AND turn on dime without sacrificing control and have pleasing, resilient interiors. Oh yeah, and reliability.
From the 1980s and 1990s you’d think they approached this as a matter of trade-offs instead of striving for the complete presentation.

They can call it Chevrolet, Chevy, Cadillac, Caddy, GMC, Buick, whatever. I will NEVER purchase another GM product. I’d rather buy a used Trabant, if I were into buying communist junk. (and I have over $3K on my GM card towards a purchase.)
