The Pac-10 conference announced Thursday that the University of Colorado has agreed to leave the Big 12 to join its conference. "This is an historic moment for the Conference, as the Pac-10 is poised for tremendous growth," commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. "The University of Colorado is a great fit for the Conference both academically and athletically and we are incredibly excited to welcome Colorado to the Pac-10.

Goodbye Big 12, we hardly even knew ye.
I know. Let’s call them the Western Athletic Conference.
Timing can be a *itch, right?
Headlines that CU lost 6 football and one basketball scholarships for POOR academic achievement...today...
And CU's football program is anything but "competitive" in the Big 12 or anywhere else for that matter...they are lower echelon D1 anymore.
I thought Nebraska or Texas would be the first to announce their bolt...
Big Twelve will dissolve - so what does this do for the Pac-16 or whatever they are predicting and BCS bowl bids?
Statistically, unless things change, this is BAD in that only one BCS bid goes to Pac10 now...lowering anyone's chance of getting into a BCS bowl from the Pac# conference...
If you are a USC fan (excuse me if you aren’t) better get acquainted with several NCAA terms LOIC (Lack of Institutional Control), FTM (Failure to Monitor), and Repeat Violator Window. All are in play and why USC is getting hammered. We’ll find out in a couple hours.
I should know, Bama fan, we were hit with similar penalties to what is rumored for USC in the Means case which you subtly referenced. NCAA never proved any money changed hands in our case, didn’t matter in ours, won’t matter in USCs.
So what happens to the conference when the State of California goes bankrupt and can’t afford to keep the schools open any longer? Hey, I can dream of a bankrupt berkeley can’t I?
..."this just gives CU a whole bunch of new schools to lose to"...
...dead on.
The new Pac-16 will have 2 divisions and the winner of each division will get a BCS bid. This will be bad for the mid-major schools.
No, as with the other conferences, the PAC# will still only get one BCS bid.
Wow, with Colorado making the move and Nebraska rumored to be going to the Big 10 + 1 (now 2) tomorrow, I think it’s all over for the Big 12. The other five teams will go to the Pac 10 + 1 and we’ll see if Mizzou gets an invite to the Big 10 + 2.
Pac-10 and big 10 are trying to model themselves after the sec. It may make them more competitive but the reason the best athletes choose the sec schools is because of the climate.
and the other reason they choose the SEC schools is a lot of them grow up there
I cannot see the other BCS conferences agreeing to it. Perhaps something good will come of this and the BCS will go away. Then the bowls regain the freedom to ask who they wish and the people can debate who wins the national title every year as they used to do.

Some schools are going to be screwed bad when this all shakes out.
Now Oregon State will have someone they can beat in hoops.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Missouri and Notre Dame join Nebraska in the Big 10 (+4). Two seven team divisions divided geographically (East/West):
EAST
WEST
It begins.
Not a chance. The BCS is all about the money. This expansion is all about the money. The two complement each other.
