The Pac-10 conference announced Thursday that the University of Colorado has agreed to leave the Big 12 to join its conference. "This is an historic moment for the Conference, as the Pac-10 is poised for tremendous growth," commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. "The University of Colorado is a great fit for the Conference both academically and athletically and we are incredibly excited to welcome Colorado to the Pac-10.

So...Big 11 and Pac-11?
“University of Colorado is a great fit for the Conference both academically “
Anyone mentioning sports and academics in the same breath makes me laugh my head off.
Now is a good time to make the switch considering USC is looking at a two-year bowl ban, at least.
I think the big 12 is over. rumor is Nebraska is leaving tomorrow for the big 10
Colorado? What the hell happened to Nebraska bolting?
No, Texas, Oklahoma, A&M, and TT will follow to the Pac-10.
Actually, before it’s said and done Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St. may be moving to the Pac-10 as well. So it will be the Pac-16. If those teams don’t move over then Utah will join the Pac-10 or the new Pac-12.
they are all Pacific coast states, so it’s a natuiral fit ...
too bad - they seem more akin to the SEC
Looks like Baylor will no longer have the real athletic programs to smooch off anymore.
Nebraska is supposed to announce the move to the Big-10 tomorrow.
2 Years at most.
Considering there were no boosters/employees of the university giving envelopes to players.
As was the case in the SEC.
I think the NCAA is going the wrong way. They should have put Cal State San Diego, Long Beach, San Jose, and irvine in the Pac 10. Put Oregon and and Wash schoops in with Idaho, Boise St Montana and Wyoming, Utah. Put Arizona in with Nevad, Arizona, Nebraske and so on and so forth, creating tighter geographic rivalries.
Those schools make sense geographically but the bring nothing to the table athletically or financially.
Yeah, I read it too fast. Thought Colorado went to the Big 10. My bad.
The Big East, as a football conference, is going to go next. They will be a basketball and other sports conference.
Some schools are going to be screwed bad when this all shakes out. Four mega conferences will control college football.
Uh, two things. Everyone put your money in this as it's one whale of a stock tip. Second, it sounds like the team will be subsumed into all the other current teams. That, or the name, “Pac-10” isn't going to be around much longer.
That just seems like an odd comment for him to have made.
Some wisenheimer (not many of those here, eh) said if two more teams can be convinced to switch they would have an 18-PAC.
Pac-16 sounds kinda dumb.
Since Arizona and former Big 12 teams are no where near the Pacific.
I like Great Western Conference.
No need to change name if teams bolt or teams are added.
Depends on the sport. The biggest disparity is football and track. Look and see how they do otherwise and there is some competion from sport to sport.
