The Big 12 appears to be dead.
A source close to the Nebraska Board of Regents told Orangebloods.com the regents informally agreed Wednesday to move to the Big Ten and that a formal announcement Nebraska is leaving will come Friday.
Sources close to Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech have suggested to Orangebloods.com over the last week that if Nebraska leaves, the Big 12 can't be saved.
Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds and president Williams Powers gathered UT coaches today at 2 p.m. CT to tell them they did everything they could to save the Big 12 but that they were unsuccessful.
Just as Orangebloods.com was first to report last Thursday, the Pac-10 will invite Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Colorado.
And it appears those invitations will be accepted.
According to sources, Colorado will also opt out of the Big 12 and accept an invitation to the Pac-10.

The Big Ten is essentially a Midwestern conference.
In the end there can be only one.....
Though if there was just one conference, it might more closely resemble an actual playoff system.
What is funny the bottom of the linked article mentions one of the reasons Baylor is getting heismaned is because Cal-Berkeley does not want a religious school, ie Christian, in the conference. If the school in question was a Muzzie school I am sure Berkeley would welcome it with open arms. From a football perspective, I would rather have Colorado than Baylor so good outcome for the wrong reason, hee hee.
It was good while it lasted.
ping
And Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia, is a midwestern type of state. People in State College certainly have more in common with Ohio than with new York.
What happened to/with Mizzou?
The midwestern population, and the TYV money..is moving tot he south..the warm parts of the country..that’s why the Big10 needs to expand..
It’ll be the Pac 10 South and so far the Big 10 has only invited Nebraska. No word on Mizzou yet but the big loser in this whole mess will be Kansas
They should call the coast teams the Blues and the other division the Reds, hee hee.
LOL~
Big 12 teams left in the dark....
KANSAS
KANSAS STATE
IOWA STATE
MISSOURI
BAYLOR
yep Big 12 is dead. But if the Big10 is satisfied with just adding Big Red isn’t enough. Why not make this easy and invite ND and Cincy and try to even out what the Pac 16 did.
In terms of other sports(basketball)Kansas loses bigtime in this unless the SEC? steps in....
I was referring to the expanded Pac-10, hee hee.
Is there any info on 2010 (& 2010-2011 bball) schedules? How impotent will the 2010 football season be in the Big 12 if they still play this one final season?
The remains of the Big 12 will probably raid the Mountain West conference and go after Air Force, BYU etc
This sucks.
(Oh, and HI CLEVE!!!! :) )
