Being short isn't easy. Short people make less money, have a harder time finding a mate, and are less likely to be elected to public office, statistics show.
A new study suggests that it gets worse: The shortest short people -- men under 5 feet 5 inches and women under 5 feet -- are roughly 50 percent more likely than the tallest people to have a heart attack or die from heart disease, according to an analysis published in the European Heart Journal.

I’ve never heard of a condition called “higher heart”. Why would short people be at risk of getting it? Does the heart know where it goes?
I’m putting in a proposal to show that studies that make hyperbolic claims about some demographic pay well.
“The study’s “major limitation is a failure to take into account confounding factors,” he says. “It’s much easier to measure somebody’s height than it is to measure lots of other environmental factors that could affect height.”
Nutrition is the most important environmental factor that influences both height and heart health, Lauer adds, but everything from air pollution to employment status to hydration could play a role.”
I always thought heart disease was the reason for fewer old tall people, though. Its the most intuitive explanation, at least. For instance, why would there be a higher cancer rate among tall people?
Maybe the heart is just on its tippy toes to appear taller.
You’ve nailed it perfectly.
How do the researchers account for the recent scarcity of leprechauns, pixies, sprites and gnomes? While giants have proliferated and can currently be seen on ABC in the NBA playoffs.
Someone needs to warn Randy that the "shorts" are launching a propaganda war to regain their power. I say, "NEVER!"
Uh...is there a relative WEIGHT factor the article might have left out?? 5’2” and 250lbs might be just a little less healthy than 6’4” and 250, don’t ya think?
“In reference to your dog observation, large dogs have shorter lives because they do all the work and technically small dogs are, in fact, rats and therefore disqualified. “
ROFLMAO ping.
LOL!
I have a bar of soap handy, and I know how to use it.
I have bad news for all of my dogs now.
The proper term is "vertically challenged."
Be thankful you still have your teeth..........
The biggset problem short people face is being caught in an elavator with a bunch of tall people.
Risus Sardonicus?
I’m 4 inches over the limit.
I’m good to go.
