There was a time when schools used to call the parents to make sure the kids were at home sick if they were marked absent. I guess some schools don’t do this anymore. A 7 y/o boy is missing in Oregon after having arrived at school, but was marked ‘absent’ with no one noticing. All those hours that poor boy was missing... with no one knowing. Yet another bill needs to be passed to ensure that schools check on “missing”/”absent” kids to be sure they are home sick. What a no-brainer. Absolutely unacceptable!

I don’t know what the policies are anymore. When I taught (but it was high school) getting a working and correct phone number to call parents was very difficult. I would often spend hours making phone calls and still not get anyone.

Looking at the "science project" the poor little boy was standing in front of, it appears to be very advanced work for a seven year old. No way he did that by himself.

Now, is it possible some other child's parent was jealous of it? (Just thinking out loud).

Do you think he’s inside a locker? Maybe placed there by other students playing stupid-ass games? Kids are such animals these days, you know...

I don't know but we have cases where body found in wall etc. No one reported seeing anyone take him etc, so I think they should be sure and search again.

College girl murdered on campus and remember she was found in wall of lab. I read a report a few months ago of a man missing for 3 days. Cops found his body in shrubs near building he was last seen in. He had fallen from roof.

I believe he is in that school building, search it again, all of it.

My CERT team was once called out to assist searching for an elderly Alzheimers patient. The police had been through the house twice. Actually it was the same two cops who had been through the house twice.

"He's not in there. We looked twice."

After a three hour search we finally sent two CERT members in to re-search the house. We found the old man sitting in a closet hiding behind some clothes.

Other than the spelling and grammar, I agree with this one.

It is usually a relative, and leaving him at school is a perfect cover for taking him somewhere.

I know this is not fair and she may be the most wonderful Mom in the world, but statistics says watch her close.

Our kids’ school calls us around 6pm to let us know that our child was absent from school that day. My husband and I just roll our eyes at the absurdity.

The stepmom and the child attended a Science Fair from 8 - 8:45am.

The stepmom was the last person to see the boy as he walked down a hallway towards his 2nd grade classroom.

The boy was marked “absent” by his teacher.

Pretty easy....she was AT the school with her son attending a science fair...she did not just drop him off in front. She watched him walk down the hall to his classroom. At least that is what the article says.

You likely have kids that are actually at school when you think they are at school. This is a valuable service for some parents.
