Friday, one of the most expensive homes in America officially went on the market for $68 million.
It's taken more than two years to build, and it's just eight miles outside of Manhattan, in Alpine, New Jersey.
It's called the Stone Mansion 30,000 square feet of home sitting on two acres of land. Richard Kurtz is the owner, and he started building the home for just himself and his wife but the plans kept getting bigger and bigger.

No, I’m not confused at all. I know exactly what’s going on, just being a bit sarcastic.
I could find a better place than that for 68 Million.
And mowing the lawn, weed whacking, gardening, general upkeep, fecthing the mail, walking Fido, etc.
Probably dozens of them. Should go over there and bust his ass.
That said, the homes are extravagant to the point of being tacky IMO and this guy, as a real estate developer, should have known better than to overbuild in this market.
The super rich in Alpine aren’t interested in land, they are paying for an exclusive location in the Palisades near New York City. The super rich who want country estates live in Far Hills, New Jersey about 35 miles west of Manhattan. It’s just one multi million dollar estate after the other out there, it’s truly the landed gentry.
Right.
Ok. let’s say 70 bucks per sq. ft.
I think the article said 30,000 sq. ft.
So, that makes 2,100,000.
He must have gold plumbing in there.
Me too.
For me, a house half the size on a hundred acres on a mountain lake.
Easily done for much less than 68 mil.
Plenty of them around Alpine.
It is very wealthy indeed.
I’ve driven through it many times. Many homes cannot be seen from the road, very private. Eddie Money lives there, along with many celebrities.
Far Hills, Basking Ridge, Peapack/Gladstone, Bernardsville, Alexandria in Hunterdon county, and many others.
Yes, the list is a long one for Northern N.J.
And of course the many multimillion dollar homes on the Jersey Shore. Long Beach Island to Cape May.
Yeah, but just imagine the parties!
It is located at the junction of Closter Dock Rd and Warren Lane in Alpine, NJ. The house doesn't appear in all Bird's Eye views and you'll have to zoom in and fiddle with the view direction to see the property.
It is a beautiful home. But it does look like a museum. Turn it into an assisted living house.
Sattelite views are a little scary.
I’m waiting to be arrested for peeing in the bushes at the back of my couple of acres.
Ha! Give it to Acorn?
No!
Ooops.
Didn’t ingest what you wrote properly. Confused Assisted Living with Low Income.
Sorry about that.
lol...moon the satellite!
LOL My son already has plans for us and we are only in our mid 50s.
