All episodes of Babylon 5 are on the WB now. Hulu had the first two but now all of them are on the WB website.
Nice. I never saw the full run. I mostly saw the fourth season, and then missed the finale because it moved to cable. I wasn’t able to catch it last time it was on Sci-Fi, however many years ago that was.
“There is no Y in liberties”
“Go and repress someone else”
“what do you want you moon faced assassin of joy”?
“I’m waiting for an apology
You’d better check the temperature in Hell first”
You don’t frighten easily
I work for Ambassador Mollari, after awhile nothing scares you
probably because I confused this guy
with
these guys
“You will cooperate with The State, for the good of The State, and for your own survival. You will confess to the crimes for which you have been accused. You will be returned to society a productive citizen if you cooperate. Resistance will be punished, cooperation will be rewarded.”
“There is a monster on the throne, G’Kar. A well protected monster. He must be removed!”
I bought a copy of his script writing guide a while back. Great book.
They pretty much wrapped the story up in 4 seasons, the original plan was for 5, but when PTEN got into trouble they wrapped the main storyline up in the forth.
As a fan of Sci Fi, who watched both B5 and DS9.. I can tell you B5 is without a doubt a far superior show. I will admit when it first aired I caught a few early B5 episodes, didn’t care much for it and stopped watching. Thank goodness for reruns, B5 is a vastly superior show and has held up far better than DS9.
And yes, I just re-watched both series in their entirety this past year. DS9 does not hold up to the test of time at all, and more than once found myself nodding off during the episodes. The weak point for B5 was season 5, which isn’t overly surprising given they wrapped the main story arc up in year 4 when it looked (and came to pass) that their distribution company PTEN was going under. Season 5 isn’t bad, just not the same without the overarching storyline/drama.
FARSCAPE is another show that is excellent, but during its original run I missed a few episodes and that left me utterly confused so I stopped watching. Since I have been fortunate enough to see the entire series and its a superb show, but you better see every episode in order, or you will have a hard time keeping up.
FIREFLY was a far too short lived show, that is worth watching if you haven’t seen it. Pity the network monkeyed with it, and the opening left viewers confused if they had never turned in.. I think that if Fox had let the shows air in the order intended, and if the show had had an intro, like they had in the movie SERENITY at the opening credits, that show easily would have had a 4 or 5 year run.
Oh well.. what could have been.
I have seen it, don't like it. At the end of the fourth all the loose ends are tidied up. During the fifth everyone self-destructs, often for no apparent reason.
I loved the series, I was just really disappointed they didn't do more with the fifth season than turn it into a sci-fi soap.
Actually the main reason DS9 was as good as it was (besides the awesome Avery Brooks and in spite of Quark) was because it was trying to follow the ground that B5 was breaking. I remember reading a sci-fi forum back then and seeing somebody ask "Why is the Federation fighting the Dominion?" The answer that came back was "because of what's happening on TNT"
Great show. The end of the friendship between Sheridan and Garibaldi was heartbreaking.
" Everybody happy but Zathras... but Zathras never happy. Zathras happy once, had friend once, but wheels fell off... very sad. ..."
????
what was happening on TNT? I thought B5 was on My 9 or UPN or whatever they called it.
anyway I stopped watching Babylon 5 after the first 3-4 episodes and gave up////
“The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.”
— G’Kar to Garibaldi in Babylon 5:”Survivors”
now you would love this then (tongue in chief stuff, I love it...)
No, TNT stepped in and picked up the show after PTEN went down. They broadcast the entire series in sequence daily while broadcasting new episodes weekly, which made the show very accessible and is probably a large reason that it has such a large following.
Yeah, I know, but they saved the season 4 final episode until the end of the fifth season on TBS or whatever station it was. I never saw it.
Bookmark for later so I can quote Delenn’s lines to the earth cruisers after B5 declares independence.
I would love a new series covering the psi war. Too bad G’kar is gone.
Just watched that episode last nite.
‘If you value your lives, be somewhere else.’
Actually, was at ConCarolinas this weekend and met Claudia Christen (who still looks absolutely beautiful) and during her talk, she said that they had planned 4 seasons. The 5th was a request from the network.
(I wish I’d had a camera when she was holding my 5 month old. It was great. She’s a VERY nice, and VERY gracious star. It’s nice not having someone who’s done some good roles basically showing up and expecting people to bow down in their presence. She was genuinely happy that people wanted to meet her and wanted her opinions.)
