It is the question that sooner or later baffles every political pundit, consultant, expert, or observer. Why do American Jews persist in their adoration of the Democratic Party? Why, like an abused spouse, do they tolerate Israel-bashing, support for the Palestinians and Democratic softness on terrorism and still return for more? As the richest demographic group in our population, why do they still vote for Obama and donate money to him when he specifically proposes to raise the taxes on those making more than $200,000 per year?

A lot because Jew is becoming increasingly hard to define. You could believe that both the Old and New Testament are basically just firewood and still be considered a Jew because Jews like Ashkenazi and Sephardic are considerfed ethically Jewish. People who are ethnically Jewush often do not take Judaic and JudeoChristian values remotely seriously. SOmething very easy to forget.

Yes, very interesting. I think Podhoretz’s insights are helpful for answering that age old question.
Your post makes a lot of sense. There is not belief in salvation and an afterlife. Not being an expert I imagine that there are still sects of Judaism who are expecting a Messiah, but more commonly the belief is that the Jewish race a carries out the works of the Messiah - peace on earth, care for the poor, etc. The belief is that you earn your rewards here on earth. Jews are notable philanthropists (universities, hospitals, performing arts, countless foundations and charitable organizations).
A political party that seems to embrace those viewpoints of making the world a better place through government action fits their template. Where the disconnect comes in, IMO, is that the government does it with other people’s money.

I don't know if that cuts it. I'm half Jewish (dad Jewish, Mom not Jewish). I'm not self-hating. And I don't give a crap about Israel any more than I give a crap about South Korea or Argentina. But I'm a right-winger.
I think Jews are liberals because they a) are urban/suburban, where most libs dwell b) are lawyers, intellectuals, professionals, again, a hotbed for libs, and c) didn't the American and European Jews used to be a bunch of commies? Why wouldn't they be leftists?
I don't see a conflict between leftism and anti-Zionism, so what's to be confused about?
There is a big problem when a culture goes insane. In fact subjectivity the antithesis of objectivity, is the end game of the diversity movement. Remove truth, deny God and society falls into chaos. Obama believes the end justifys the means. He is stupid like a fox.
I have some Jewish friends and they are pretty darn conservative, they saw the writing on the wall before the election. But I dont understand the rest of them.
I “speed read” through the book in a Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago.
He presents some interesting angles that relate the values inherent in Judiasm which then translate into the Jews’ historical beliefs (crystalized in the 20th century) in the importance of individual liberty to pursue whatever course they choose in life. This moves them into the socially liberal circles, which is the main thing they have in common with other libtards. There is heavy Jewish support for issues like abortion, porn, and yes, homosexuality.
I have posted many posts about this “Why are Jews libtards” topic, being Jewish and having liberals as friends and family- that’s why I picked up the book in the store to peruse. In fact, I needed help finding it (it was in the Judiasm section).
But I decided it wasnt enticing enough for me to buy, although it is comprehensive (the 20th cemtury isn’t discussed until two thirds into the book) and I ended up buying the new edition of Prager’s “Why The Jews”, which frankly, depresses me evey time I read a part of it.
P.S. There also is evidence contained in the book that Jews are strongly in favor of the rights of the individual in criminal cases- a dilution of the police powers that were established by the Warren court- the liberal criminal procedure issues that also were strongly supported by Jews.
These types of issues outweigh things like national security/defense in the libtards’ feeble minds- REGARDLESS of their previous religious orientation.
