Umpire Jim Joyce wiped away tears as he took the field, a day after his blown call cost Detroit pitcher Armando Galarraga a perfect game.

Major League Baseball is still deciding whether to review the call.

He not only shouldn’t be fired, he should be set as an example of how to man up to your mistakes. You want to hand out pink slips to some blue, then you start with Joe West. Fire the umps who think they are above the game, not those who are devastated when they don’t get their part of the game right.

I'm just glad it happened in baseball, where there is still some class.

Can you imagine how dirtbag Ron Artest would've handled a similar situation?
