Another Mojave Cross Taken Down!

The Mojave Cross has been torn down again!
The day after Memorial Day the Mojave National Preserve has removed the cross erected the day prior. The seven foot cross made of PVC pipe was erected as a War Memorial on Monday, May 31, 2010 during a celebration of Memorial Day and the Mojave Cross. At noon today a call came from the site that the cross has been removed again!
Most of the small wooden crosses inscribed with the name of a fallen American hero were wedged into crevices of the rock and are still there today.

Battery powered video cameras and/or a good long range rifle and a night scope could solve this problem.:)
Problem now is that since this has become a very public issue, even if the original perps don't repeat, there will be dozens of kids who will think it is fun to vandalize this cross.

I’m beginning to think private sources should raise money for an armed guard to be put there for a while with not a word about it. Let it all be a surprise for the little miscreants.

I too want to donate. I can’t decently express how much this angers me.
If I lived out in California I would volunteer to help guard the cross.

You can buy a solar powered electric fence charger, if you insulated the base of the cross and hid the wires and charger you could electrify it.
