The end of NATO
Vanity ^ | 1 June 2010 | Radix (Me)

Posted on 06/01/2010 7:25:59 PM PDT by Radix

Longtime Israeli military Ally Turkey sanctions a run by avowed terrorist group Hamas at a three year long blockade of the Gaza shore maintained by its non NATO Ally Israel.

A bunch of goons and stooges embark upon a provocation of Israeli Defense Forces in the clear belief that the United States under Obama has clearly signaled that the time has come to end the Zionist entity.

President Obama who has to this date only allowed an erstatz Birth Certificate to be released verifying his status as a "natural born citizen" is conveniently off on Holiday with his pal Louis Farrakhan of the racist Nation of Islam sect. You know, his Chicago neighbor? This while buffoonish Joe Biden makes a speech at the hallowed ground in Arlington on Memorial Day that was most certainly not plagiarized, simply ghost written. Biden saves his plagiarizing for events that are not typically covered by CNN, MSNBC, and the other lefty Media suck ups. Or is it the other way around?

Now Turkey is rattling its sabres and is suggesting that it might also officially provoke Israel on the high seas that separate the two "Allies." The Turkish Navy is going to escort a new flotilla of peace loving provocateurs. These folks are determined to demonstrate their peaceful intentions by bringing the biggest Islamic Navy that they could find with them to smash through Israels defensive cordon.

Obama wants a full report. He'll deal with that just as soon as he manages the plugging of the oil leak on the high seas on the other side of the planet.

Back in 1974 Greece ceased its participation in NATO activities. Years earlier NATO Allies Turkey and Greece went to war against each other. Turkish military forces invaded Cyprus an island shared by ethnic Turks and Greeks. Turkey and Greece each celebrate national holidays celebrating war victories over the other.

Those events almost ended the NATO Alliance. Thank God for Jimmy Carter coming to the rescue.

So now Turkey threatens Israel, Greece is being coyed into dropping the Euro as its currency thus exacerbating its difficulties.

Can't those 2 loser nations just go back to fighting each other? Don't we have enough on our plate already? Turkey could invade Greece, kill a bunch of Greeks, and then Greece can ask the United Nations to rescue them from their NATO Allies. Heck, Maybe NATO will come to the rescue of the NATO members. Maybe even France can supply some Royales with Cheese in case the International Red Cross gets lost.

What is NATO anyhow? France is in, France is out, Poland the former seat of the NATO adversary Warsaw Pact is in but we can't put a missile defense system there because Obama (who is not really a Muslim) decided to renege on a Treaty that provided for just what we pulled out of Turkey for following the October Missile Crisis in 1962.

Meanwhile, back at the Farrakhan house in the posh Chicago Hyde Park neighborhood where William Ayers lives the mucky mucks are trying to figure out how to stop the rain and get some waterproof teleprompters so Obama won't mispronounce his words before live audiences.

One thing is for certain, Obama is no Charlie McCarthy, and Bill Ayers is no Edgar Bergen. Obama can't speak, and neither of them are funny.

There are serious divisions occurring in Europe as well as NATO

Not a good thing.

Amazing isn’t it? And they always accuse us of plotting to take over the world, oy.

Does anyone really give a damn about protecting people that hate us, anyway? The only people that really value our friendship anymore is the nations of Eastern Europe. Maybe we should forge a pact with them, and let NATO die a natural death.

Old Europe. The new NATO includes Poland and Romania, two allies that the US should never abandon. I would rather go into battle with either Poland or Romania than with both Greece and Turkey

Turkey elected its pro-Islamic Govt in 2007, so this was before 0bummer. Greece has never really been a NATO ally and has always been generally anti-US anti-Israel. It used to be that flights going in Athens were considered dangerous for its lax security.

As long as the US remains loyal to the people of Poland and Romania and Brittan, there will always be NATO.

Greece!

Turkey!

NATO!

No. The best thing would be that Obama, the great uniter, be on watch while NATO dies its long overdue death—setting up President Palin to forge the new military alliances with the linchpin democracies that will really matter—Israel, Eastern Euorpe, S. Korea, Taiwan, Colombia, etc.—as we get ready to fully engage the jihadis and commies around the world and at home.

The UN! (too)

The original crusaders need to get their loop in a pine!

The time is getting closer when they will be needed again.

Letting NATO die a natural death might be the best thing for it; certainly, it would be an epic slap in the face to the Euro-trash, who would suddenly wake up to the cold light of the fact that they would henceforth have to pay full freight for their own defense - it'd be fun to see just how quickly all those comfy little socialist welfare regimes would wither away.

NATO lost all credibility it might have had when it invaded a sovereign nation to settle an internal dispute. Now a member nation is backing a band of terrorist jackals against another sovereign nation. It isn’t at all hard to imagine a certain type of politician requesting NATO forces come here to settle civil unrest over a phony border dispute.

It’s a serious thing if Turkey provokes a skirmish with Israel. Is NATO obliged to defend Turkey when it acts as the aggressor?

Furthermore, they can’t have it both ways. Israel, though it has no land forces in Gaza, remains the Occupying Power and has every right to inspect goods in transit to Territory under its control. Turkey should not try to claim independence for Gaza.

The whole thing is turning into farce and President Obama needs to send strong signals to Turkey. Our executive branch may have severe disagreements with Israeli policy but should not allow that to serve as pretext for armed escalation between a NATO ally and our “strong ally”.

NATO is made obsolete by the end of the Cold War in 1991.

During the invasion of Iraq back in '03, the Turks refused to give us permission to use their territory as a staging ground to launch attacks into northern Iraq.

No not when Turkey is the attacker, only when they are attacked article 5 comes into play. But the problem is
since a possible confrontaion would be in open waters how
do you prove who has attacked whom first?
