I'll say this though; Maceman didn't suggest that the pejoratives alone were what bothered him.
Yes I can make up my own mind. I've already done that. I've known many really terrific, talented, compassionate gay people in my life, not to mention the 70-odd year old gay couple who have long befriended my 87 year old mother, who lives alone 1,500 miles away from her sons. I am so grateful for their presence in her life.
So I've made up my mind that people can be gay and decent, and kind. And all that matters to me, from a political perspective, is that they stop voting for one-world socialism or worse.
And frankly, I'd rather be in a position to persuade them and their straight friends to our side of the political battle, however imperceptibly, than to alienate them by calling them names.
I had a liberal girlfriend whom I introduced to this site. I was truly embarrassed by the pointless gay-bashing here, and saddened because her justifiable outrage at it was a real barrier to getting her to be more open the many really informative and insightful things that this site offers. And the thing is, she was opposed to much of the PC gay political agenda anyway. But she was appalled by the meanness and, well, hatred. As I am.
And who does all the gay-bashing help? What is the God-damned point? What are we doing here? And how does it help in our mission? How does "God Hates Fags" work to advance the growth of our cause? How does it help us reach out to people who might otherwise be receptive to much of the conservative agenda -- especially on the economic and foreign policy fronts?
I went to an “authority figure” for guidance, because it’s HIS board—not mine or yours. Since Maceman is accusing other FReepers of engaging in “the worst kind of inhumane name-calling,” and I don’t agree, it’s kind of up to the board owner to decide what’s permitted, isn’t it? Since I’m a guest here, I try to follow board rules.
Nevertheless, you didn’t answer my question. In what way can we discuss homosexuality without offending you or Maceman? Apparently I’m not adult enough to figure it out for myself, so please elucidate!
