JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 4-year-old girl and her grandmother had some strong words to describe a pit bull they said attacked them Tuesday.
"It's stupid," 4-year-old Tytionna said.
"Kill it. They should put it down," her grandmother added. The two were on a walk with Tytionna's 2-month-old brother when the pit bull the family was dog-sitting got loose.
It charged the trio and bit Tytionna in the face, dragging her to the ground. Then it bit her leg and shook her. "It swallowed my earring," she said.
A Good Samaritan, who didn't want to be identified, ran out just in time and started kicking the dog. She said she couldn't just stand by and watch.
"To see it happen was truly terrifying. Terrifying," she said. "You just don't know how vulnerable you are."
Tytionna got five stitches in her face and six in her leg.
The dog still hasn't been taken into custody or tested for rabies.
"It might bite someone else's child or an adult. They need to kill him," Tytionna's grandmother said.
I'd say it's the low-functioning people attracted to pit bulls. Seriously. My adopted brother (lives in a group home) has always been drawn to the “gangsta” culture. He is insisting that when he gets on his own, he wants a pit bull. Sadly, the social worker has foolishly decided that he is capable of living on his own and there is nothing my parents can do to stop it. I shudder to think what would happen if he were responsible for a pit bull. He would never abuse it, but he would never be able to consistently train it.
Now go change your diaper and let the grown-ups talk.
They’re trying to compensate for their congenital stupidity or their cowardice. It’s the breed of choise for rappers and hip hoppers, garbage likes garbage. Where’s dah bitches and hoes?
“A Good Samaritan, who didn’t want to be identified, ran out just in time and started kicking the dog.”
If she’d had a gun, she wouldn’t have had to risk her life in close quarters with a viscious dog.
A 4 year old grandma?
I am never disappointed in pit-bull lovers ability to blame the vicitm.
Kill the dog, Jail the owners for 5 years.
“Pit bull owners are criminals.”
I dislike the breed more than most but even I have to ask....doesn’t that level of stupid hurt?
I totally agree with “stinkerpot65” and so do many others.
Well, I would imagine all of the children who have had their throats ripped out by a pit bull might have "wet their pants in terror". And I doubt they could change their own diaper.
On the other hand, you don't have to worry about them "letting the grownups talk" since they no longer have a larynx. And they are often in buried in a small coffin. Coffins will keep the little darlings fairly quiet.
This little girl was killed by a pitbull.
So maybe you are right. She probably deserved to "wet her pants" because she "provoked" the gentle pit bull.
Not a “pit-bull” lover, FRiend. Never owned one in my life, and I don’t associate with anyone who owns one. I’ve been around them. I’ve been around exceptionally well-behaved pit bulls; I’ve been around unstable pit bulls.
If you go into a situation with a dog and are even remotely fearful, they will sense that, and being that pit bulls are predatory and territorial, they will likely strike.
Interestingly enough, the well-behaved pits were owned by white families while the unstable ones were owned by blacks. This is simply an observation, not a generalization. Additionally, many of the stories in the media reveal that the owners are black. Many blacks simply think that having a bear trap with legs for “home protection” is more important than the safety of their children.
I’ve been on record saying that I would love to have a pit as a puppy, but I would never adopt a shelter pit. I would prefer a shepherd or a rotty to a pit any day. I do not have kids, but when I do, I would not want a pit.
Animals are animals. Some are predictable, others are not. Like humans, we cannot assume anything about anyone based on looks alone. When I encounter a dog, even chihuahuas and shih tzus, I remain strong willed and unafraid. As a result, I’ve never been bitten, even by the perceptively unstable pits I’ve been around. It’s all in how you carry yourself. Likewise, I would never hop on the back of a pit and expect to NOT get bitten.
Besides, how in the world can you say it’s not the victim’s fault? Were you standing there watching while the pit spontaneously started tearing up the place? Not likely. As a result, you are arguing from an unwarranted position and do not know the circumstances surrounding the event. I do not pass judgment on either the victim or the dog, but I do not blame the dog immediately until all of the facts are on the table.
Well, if you agree that pitbull owners are criminals and predators, my remarks apply to you as well. Don't feel left out.
Blanket statments like that are just ignorant, and display an obvious lack of information and reasoning on the part of the person making the statement. Are there criminals and predators that own pit bulls? Yep. There are also criminals and predators that own Chevrolets, but not all Chevrolet owners are criminals and predators. There are criminals and predators that have red hair, but not all red-haired people are criminals and predators...
Your appeal to pure emotion without addressing the facts is typical liberal pap, and it truly is wearisome.
LOL
You're right. When that little girl's mother watched her baby's coffin lowered into the ground, she was probably over-emotional and had no consideration for the needs of pit bull owners.
She should be slapped.
I think what he was really saying is that it is incredibly irresponsible to own one, such that to decide to own one is to pre-accept the fact that it is going to harm somebody and that person doesn’t give a @#$#.
That what I believe about pit bull owners ...
I’m sure her mother had no considerations for anybody at that point, but was probably absorbed in the moment at hand. Having said that, if her daughter had been killed in a reckless driving accident, I would not expect her mother to have much consideration for reckless drivers either, but I would expect clear thinking people to not demand laws banning cars.
That's true. One would hope the parent of a child killed by a drunk driver would never think of banning drunk driving. Who are we to oppress the freedom of the drunk driver to express himself on our nation's highways?
Parents are so silly and emotional when it comes to children.
And you're entitled to your opinions based on your experiences. You're not going to get any disagreement from me that there are irresponsible pit owners. There are also highly irresponsible chainsaw owners, pickup truck owners, and scissor owners.
I know the standard refutation is to say that a chainsaw, pickup or pair of scissors can't get out of the yard by itself, etc. which is a fair point, but I would still respond that some classes of property, by virtue of their potentially dangerous nature, require far more responsible ownership than others...pit bulls being one of them...and that when the owner is negligent or abusive in their use, they are potentially far mor destructive. Than doesn't mean we ban trucks because reckless truck drivers cause more damage or injuries than sedan drivers, or that we ban chainsaws because reckless chainsaw owners cause more damage or injury than blade saw owners.
You simply can't blame the dog and responsible owners because irresponsible, and in some case criminal owners have used them irresponsibly or criminally.
Above and beyond this if you look at the animal rights crowd, they have been licking their chops over breed specific legislation as a subterfuge to establish a precedent for the eventual illegalization of pets, and ultimately all domestic animals altogether. That's an agenda I'm not going to support regardless of how many tragic, heartbreaking stories are thrown in my face.
They won't be able to because people like you will eventually see to it that cars are banned anyways.
