Interesting thought. Or Iran would like to provoke a Korean conflict to split our forces up even more and strain our overall resources if we get involved.

Maybe a combination of multiple plays.

I think we / S. Korea needs to do a little overt ASW.

I wonder if a mini-sub can hide from active sonar. I'm sure some Freepers will help out with this.

One. Ping. Only.

Interesting. Maye the Iranians insisted on a real live demonstration of the weapons they are buying from the NKs?

Two remaining members of a certain Axis up to their old tricks. Except this time the Iranian and Korean regimes are on wobbly legs with the election fights and Kim’s health respectively. Cornered animals are always more dangerous.

Good points but you forgot one thing.

The norks do nothing without permission and direction from the chicoms. NK is how the prc distributes it's nuclear weapons and missile technology to the mohammadens and other rogue enemies with "plausible deniability" and provide enough "compensation" to kim il and his henchmen to keep them pliable..

I’m no expert and don’t even pretend to be one on the internets, but I don’t know what to think of this latest act of aggression. Could they be testing Obama? This goes quite a bit beyond the typical threats for more funds.

It’s hardly what I would call a “dry run”. To me a dry run would mean carrying out the movements of the attack without firing the torpedo.

Anyway, I don’t think the attack makes sense as any kind of rehearsal. I think it was intended to push the limits of tolerable provocation, and they evidently were correct in their estimation, and no doubt pleased with the heightened atmosphere of crisis.

My own suspicion is that China is behind the whole thing. I maintain that North Korea has always been and remains a cat’s paw. It’s just so perfect for them.

In the matter of DPRK the ChiComs are part of the problem not part of the solution.

Another question is did North Korea have a Sub operating in the Gulf of Mexico and did they torpedo the BP Oil rig? Really. It could have been terrorism. You think the Obummer administration would tell us the truth or cover it up?

Strange things are happening everyday in the world. It seems we are being tested by all of the evil empires of the world.

Since they sank a South Korean destroyer and killed 46 of her crew,m it does not qualify as a dry run. It’s more like a test to see what they can get away with. Next, they’ll persuade some country that was sitting on the fence to do something foolish. It won’t turn out to be foolish because we’ve got a con man for president and he won’t care about much of anything that doesn’t directly profit him.

Sure, if you ignore every provocative action that NK has taken since the incident.
