One could do a whole column on the various abuses: Respect is the Rodney Dangerfield of Words. My favorite [read: most despised] abuser is Phil Simms, who also appears not to be aware of an entire part of speech called the adverb. [Hint to Phil -- add an "-ly" to your repertoire and you may actually sound like someone who went to college for something other than throwing a football.]
